SUMMERTIME
You have fixed all the bounds of the earth; you made summer and winter. (Psalm 74:17) Remember those days when it seems like the warmer weather would never get here? Well, wel-come to June and summertime! Summer is always fun at Shepherd of the Sea. Some of us head north to escape the heat, while some from up north head our way to enjoy the heat. All those dormant restaurants open up and the line to get over the bridge gets longer and longer. Summer is a time when we sometimes try new things at church (Retro service, anyone?) and this is mainly because there are no major festivals during this time after Pentecost. This year, however, there is an exception. On Sunday June 24, we will celebrate John the Baptist by pulling out the white paraments and having a John the Baptist themed sermon. If you want a brainteaser, try to figure out why we will celebrate John the Baptist on that particular day! Also, if you are planning on travelling this summer, pick up a Shepherd of the Sea sign to take with you - they are in the narthex. Write where you are on the sign, and take a picture. Then post it to our Facebook page so folks can see all the different places that the fellowship of this place spreads. And speaking of travelling, look for the missalette in the narthex titled: On The Road Again. It con-tains a simplified liturgy that you can use when you are away from Shepherd of the Sea. Feel free to take one with you when you travel. Above all, remember all the great and wonderful things that God has provided for us. So let us thank God with grateful hearts, and let us come to worship this summer in thanksgiving and praise!
Grace + Peace,
Pastor Scott
