Coaching in a positive way!!! 1. Coaching the athletes to their fullest potential 2. Teaching athletes the correct way to play the game3. Be there for the athletes and listen to what they have to say
Be a Mentor and Role model on and off the ice 1. Be a leader that leads by example
2. Be on time and properly dressed for the occasion 3. Be the coach you have always wanted to coach you
Protect the athletes 1. Training the athletes the right way to play the game2. From the minute they enter the building you are responsible for the athletes3. Be aware of who is around your athletes

Kathy DavisProgram Director
Mind Springs Health
MA, LPCKathy joined Mind Springs Health as Program Director in 2007 with over 20 years in management and administration. She oversees both the Frisco and Granby outpatient offices of Mind Springs Health. Kathy obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Regis University and her Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado/ Denver. Kathy is a certified instructor of Mental Health First Aid, a founding member of the 5th Judicial Drug Court Team and avid bicyclist.

Coaches Certifications and documents needed to coach
1. Register with USA Hockey $40
2. Register with CAHA for Background check
3. Concussion training – online – free 45min
4. Safesport module online – 1 hour
5. Sign and fill out consent to treat form
6. Sign coaches code of conduct
7. Age level specific module online – 6-8 hours 8. Attend classroom, levels 1-5, 1-5 days

SAFESPORT
Summary Rules for COACHES (reduced from 40 + pages)
1.Never be the only adult with a player, anywhere, anytime.
2.Communicating with a player using any electronic means, phone, text, Facebook, Twitter, etc…. Needs to have a parent attached to be Safesport compliant
3.Hockey is a physical sport and touching a player in the way the game is played will Be the only way you engage in contact with an athlete.
4. Never transport a player by any means, do not recommend travel or hotel arrangements.
5. Never change clothes, shower, or disrobe in any way in the presence of a player.
6. Treat every player fairly, equally, and respectfully.
All violations are to be reported…

We are pleased to announce that Wren Arbuthnot has accepted a position with Summit Hockey as our "Director of Goaltending Development." Wren has extensive goaltending experience and played at the college level with the University of Oregon. Wren will be working with every age group to develop our goalies.

Parent Meeting Checklist Be Very clear with your plan for the team
• Introduce yourself, history, experience, personality
• Introduce manager, clearly identify their role (you are in charge)
• Introduce asst. coaches, & roles
• Player expectations, behavior, effort, academic, & rules
• Discuss Goalie situation
• 24 hour rule review
• Refer to Parent Handbook
• If a parent wants to be involved – give them a task
• Tournaments
• League tournaments, structure, any special rules
