There are two world-class 18-hole golf courses: the Gary Player Country Club and the Lost City Golf Course - both skilfully designed by South Africa’s legendary golfing legend, Gary Player, providing a challenging round to every level of golfer and promising a test for every club in the bag.

Gary Player Country Club

Continually ranked the best golf course in South Africa, the GPCC sets the standard. It has played host to the prestigious Nedbank Golf Challenge every December since 1981 - considered “Africa’s Major”.

It is both demanding and difficult, with some golfers claiming it to be the toughest course in the Southern Hemisphere. The 520-metre par-5 9th hole and the 402-metre par-4 18th hole are ranked in Golf Online’s list of the 500 best holes in golf.

The course is immaculate with wide kikuyu fairways and excellent bent grass greens; kept in perfect condition all year round.

Clubhouse: The clubhouse offers pro-shop, changing rooms, lockers, SPA, a bar and the Country Club Restaurant, which serves breakfast, a la carte lunch, snacks and toasted sandwiches in the afternoon.

Lost City Golf Course

What could be as much or even more enjoyable than the Gary Player Country Club? Simple: playing a round at the Lost City Golf Course - Gary Player believes that he has created one of the top courses in the world and golfers are always astounded by the breathtaking beauty of this par-72 course.

This 18-hole course is situated just over the hill from the GPCC and although both courses have similar characteristics, the Lost City Golf Course has a different layout. The rich green fairways give a dramatic contrast to the desert-style layout and the large waste bunkers that prevent safe landing areas for drivers and place a premium on straight hitting are a challenging feature of this intriguing Sun City golf course.

The Out of Africa back nine is a golf safari with only a fence separating the golfers from the untamed African countryside that is the Pilanesberg National Park.

The unforgettable par-3 13th features a green shaped like the African continent and a water hazard full of live Nile crocodiles, some of them nearly two metres long. This hole isn’t only one of the most exciting in the world, but has understandably also become the graveyard for hundreds of golf balls!

Clubhouse: The Lost City’s clubhouse, with its Zimbabwe Ruins style and views of the 9th and 18th greens, offers facilities including, changing rooms, lockers, a bar and the Crocodile Lounge Restaurant.

Driving range: Sun City’s driving range, located at the Lost City Golf Course, is 235 metres long and golfers are provided with 40 balls.

Pro shop: The pro shop stocks Mizuno rental sets, exclusive attire ranging from Harbour Island to Cutter & Buck and a full range golf accessories. There is also a range of quality logo attire.

Green fees: Residents of Sun City and non-residents can utilise the facilities and green fees include halfway house lunch at both golf courses and a golf buggy sharing at the Lost City GC only. The Gary Player CC is a strictly walking golf course, but expert caddies are available at an additional fee.
