    NOTES:

    September 22,

    2013

MEMORY VERSE: Luke 16:1313No slave can serve two masters; for a slave will either hate the one and love the other, or be devoted to

the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth."

    Going Deeper

The purpose of this page is to provide a tool or instrument for your spiritual growth. This page

contains a brief synopsis of the readings as well as some questions for your reflection to help you godeeper with the Word. On the back is a day by day listing of scripture readings with possible prayerrequest. Individuals are listed on their day of birthso that you might pray for them on their birthday.

Also on the back is the prayer list for the congregation. Keep on Growing Spiritually!!

    Readings for the Day:

Amos 8:47-Amos was called by God to prophesy in the

Northern Kingdom of Israel. Peace and prosperity in Israel led tocorrupt business practices and oppression of the poor. The prophetdeclares that God will not tolerate such a situation.

1 Timothy 2:17-The Pastoral Epistles offer insight into howearly Christians understood many practical matters, such aschurch administration and worship. The church's focused prayerfor others is an expression of the single-minded passion God hastoward us in Jesus.

Luke 16:113-Jesus tells the curious story of a dishonest manwho cheats his employer and then is commended by him forhaving acted so shrewdly. Jesus wonders why his own followers

are less creative and diligent in their stewardship given that theyare managers of a far more valuable household.

    Questions To Ponder:

1Do you think that campus ministry is important? Why or

    Why not?

2 Why is it important to lift up ministries beyond our own

congregation?3 What is one way that you can be involved in campus

    ministry?

4Where is it that you feel that God is calling you to serve?
