Husband, Father, Director, Councilman, Mayor, Coach, and Board of Education Member – Tim West was all of these things and more throughout his short life. He dedicated his professional career to the State of CT since 1983 and served in a variety of local civic and government organizations, but the most accurate description of Tim would be that of “Friend.” Tim was a friend to all who knew him and a “brother” to many of those closest to him. He lived with his family along the New London shoreline and cherished spending time with family and friends. He enjoyed socializing at Guthrie or Ocean Beach, and relaxing by his pool. Tim made an indelible mark on the local community — especially his hometown of New London, a city to which he was devoted. Tim’s intelligence, wit, and ability to slip a little garlic into every dish he cooked will ensure he is long remembered.

THE TIM WEST MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP FUND In 2009, some friends of Tim decided to establish a scholarship fund to keep Tim’s memory and desire alive. The Tim West Memorial Scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to New London high school students who plan to attend college. Scholarship awards are based on a combination of academic ability, par-ticipation in athletics, community involvement and extra-curricular activities; all attributes that were important to Tim. The scholarships are renewable each year provided the recipient is in good academic and civic standing. All proceeds from the Tim West Memorial Scholarship Golf tournament will go directly to the Scholarship Fund.

tournament ruleS
1. Play according to uSGA and local club rules as noted on scoreboard using “SCRAMBLE” format.
We will be playing 3 subtournaments:• Tournament Red/White plays the Red course to the White course.• Tournament White/Blue plays the White course to the Blue course.• Tournament Blue/Red plays the Blue course to the Red course.
We will award low net prizes for the top three foursomes in each tournament and low gross prizes for the 1st place foursome in each tournament.
2. Each member of the foursome drives from the tee. Men drive from white tees. Women from red tees. Choose best ball position and each member hits next shot from that point. This procedure is followed on each shot until hole is completed.
3. Whether shot selected is in fairway, rough or sand trap, all players may place ball within one club length of the spot, no closer to the hole or outside the rough or hazard.
4. When shot is selected on green, place marker next to spot and all players putt from the exact spot.
5. A minimum of two (2) tee shots from each member of the foursome must be selected during the round. Scorecards must indicate which player’s tee shot is selected on each hole to be valid.
6. Mulligans are $5.00 each and can be purchased at the registration tent or at the food stations on the course. Each player is entitled to use no more than two mulligans during the tournament.
7. Foursome’s gross score for each hole is to be entered on scorecard.
8. Each golfer’s uSGA handicap will be used if available. If the handicap is not available, the committee will determine an equitable handicap based on the golfer’s recent scores.
9. All foursomes are requested to give their scorecards to the club pro promptly on the completion of the 18 holes without playing extra holes.
