Trinity: Unity in Diversity

Although the Bible never explicitly uses the

word “Trinity” to describe the relationship

of God, the Father, God, the Son, and God,

the Holy Spirit, the Early Fathers used this term to de-

scribe the essential unity and diversity of Three Persons

of One God. Clement of Alexandria says, “O mystic

marvel! The universal Father is one, and one the univer-

sal Word; and the Holy Spirit is one and the same eve-

rywhere”.

St. John tells us that above all else “God is Love” (I john

4:8). If God’s true nature is Love, the reality of God

must be relational-and so it is. St. Augustine advanced

the theology of Trinity by describing the Trinity as rela-

tionship of three persons: The One who Loves (the Fa-

ther), the One is Loved (the Son) and Love itself (the

Holy Spirit). This understanding is reflected in our

creed as we say that the Son is “eternally begotten of the

Father” which in turn inspires the Holy Spirit.

This inexhaustible mystery of love is manifested in the

dynamics of Unity in Diversity. We called to live the

self-giving love of trinity in our family, church and the

world at large. At Mass, listen carefully to whom differ-

ent prayers are directed. The Eucharistic prayers are

directed to God the Father, through the power of the

Holy Spirit and through this prayer God, the Son is

made present. Other prayers, such as, the Sign of the

Cross, Glory to God, the creed are Trinitarian Prayers.

The essential nature of the Church as University in Di-

versity is founded on the mystery of Trinity. Our own

parish, Corpus Christi, although diverse in its reality, is

strongly united through our Eucharist, our devotion

and commitment to each other. It is said that a Third

force is sustained by the movement of love within the

Trinity. This gives you the confidence to do what is im-

possible to do at the egoic and dualistic level which po-

larizes and divides reality to one’s own advantage and

to the detriment of the other. As we nurture our heart in

the divine love, you will flow out into the now, bringing

third force, and seeing how you can draw things into

reconciliation and symphony of grace.

Holy Family Rosary Society selected Daniel McGrath as the recipient of the 2018 St. Albert Scholarship. Congratula-tions!

Memorial Day Mass will be on Monday, May 28th at 9:00am at St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Please bring a lawn chair for the outdoor Mass. In case of inclement weather Mass will be at to St. Peter’s Church (One Bluffs Street). There will be no Mass on Monday, May 28th at Queen of Apostles.

The parish office will be closed on Monday, May 28th for Memorial Day.

No Adoration at Queen of Apostles on Monday, May 28th.

Corpus Christi Parish Updated Master Plan Presen-tation: With the approval of our Parish Council, Finance Council, and Trustees, the proposed updated Master Plan will be presented on Thursday, May 31st, 6:00 pm at the Great Hall. All parishioners are invited to attend the meet-ing and presentation. This will be an excellent opportunity to learn about the updated Master Plan and offer your sug-gestions and input. This will be an exciting time to get our plans done with the support from everyone.

The Corpus Christi Parish Feast Day and Carnival will be held Sunday, June 3, 2018. Volunteers are needed to serve as carnival game operators for shifts beginning at 11:30 am, and 1:00, 2:00 and 3:00 pm. The first shift will be for 1 and ½ hours all other shifts will be for one hour. Donations of all sizes of stuffed animals are needed for game priz-es. Small “Fun size” candy bars are also requested or more healthy snacks such as pretzels, gummie chews or cookies. Please contact Mark Versch at (402) 326-0256 to volunteer.

La Misa de Memorial Day será el lunes 28 a las 9:00 am en cementerio de San José. Por favor traiga una silla de jardín para la Misa a la intemperie. En caso de mal clima la Misa será en la Iglesia de San Pedro (One Bluffs Street). No habrá Misa el lunes 28 de mayo en la iglesia de Reina de los Apóstoles. La Oficina Parroquial estará cerrada el lunes 28 de mayo debido al Memorial Day No habrá Adoración en Reina de los Apóstoles el lunes 28 de mayo.

Presentación del Plan Parroquial Actualizado: con la aprobación de nuestro Consejo Parroquial, y el Consejo Financiero el Plan Parroquial propuesto actualizado será presentado el jueves 31 de mayo a las 6:00pm en el Salón Grande. Todos los parroquianos están invitados a asistir a la Reunión y presentación. Esta será una oportunidad excelente para aprender acerca del Plan Parroquial Actualizado y ofrecer sus sugerencias y comentarios. Este será un tiempo emocionante otra completar nuestros planes con el apoyo de todos. El Día de Fiesta y Carnaval de la Parroquia se llevará a cabo el domingo 3 de junio del 2018. Se necesitan voluntarios para servir como operadores de juegos del carnaval para los turnos comenzando a las 11:30 am, y 1:00, 2:00 y 3:00pm. Trinidad: Unidad en la Diversidad Aunque la biblia nunca use explícitamente la palabra “Trinidad” para describir la relación de Dios, el Padre, Dios el Hijo y Dios, el Espíritu Santo. Los Padres Antiguos usaban este término para describir la unidad y diversidad esencial de las tres personas de Un Dios. Clemente de Alejandría dice “Oh maravilla mística! El Padre universal es uno, y uno la Palabra universal; y el Espíritu Santo es uno y lo mismo en todas partes”. San Juan nos dice que sobre todas las cosas “Dios es Amor” (1 John 4:8). Si la naturaleza verdadera de Dios es Amor, la realidad de Dios debe ser relacional y así lo es. San Agustín avanzó la teología de la Trinidad al describir la Trinidad como la relación de tres personas: El que Ama (el Padre), el que es Amado (el Hijo) y el Amor en sí mismo (el Espíritu Santo). En la Misa, escuchen cuidadosamente a quien son dirigidos las oraciones. Las oraciones Eucarísticas son dirigidas a Dios el Padre, por medio del poder del Espíritu Santo y por medio de esta oración Dios, el Hijo se hace presente. Las otras oraciones, como la Señal de la Cruz, Gloria a Dios, el credo son Oraciones Trinitarias. La naturaleza esencial de la Iglesia como Universidad de la Diversidad está fundada en el misterio de la Trinidad. Nuestra propia parroquia, Corpus Cristi, aunque diversa en su realidad, está fuertemente unida por medio de nuestra Eucaristía, nuestra devoción, y compromiso hacia los demás. Se ha dicho que una tercera fuerza se mantiene por el movimiento del amor dentro de la Trinidad. Esto nos da la confianza para hacer lo que es imposible hacer a nivel dualístico el cual polariza y divide la realidad en beneficio propio y al perjuicio de los demás.
