A Birthday Fund Spotlight
This was a special Easter Day for me. It fell on my Mother’s birthday, April 21. Since the holiday rarely falls on this date, she took pleasure in telling the story of a birthday in her childhood. Being one of nine children, she recalled that a happy part of Easter weekend involved the older children hiding
Easter eggs on Saturday to surprise the younger ones on Easter morning. On this particular Easter birthday, they awoke to snow, and she had to dig the colorful eggs out of the snow!It was a pleasure to give my annual Birthday Fund gift in honor of my Mother on a beautiful, sunny Easter Sunday. The amount grows, of course, and we have reached 107! Although no longer with me, she would be pleased to be remembered by a gift to this special fund. As part of our church endowment, each contribution adds to the investment in our church’s future. Please honor those you live, whether present in your life or in your memory, by a gift to the Second Presbyterian Birthday Fund.
— Carol Williams
The gifts to the Birthday Fund support our Church’s Endowment Fund. This contributes to all of our Church’s ministries and to the future of our Church for sharing the love and ministry of Christ. Many thanks to all who have given. Birthday Fund envelopes are located at the reception desk in the Church office or at the Welcome Center in the Narthex. Everyone is welcome to enjoy a cupcake a the Birthday Fund table on the second Sunday of every month.

Youth Sunday A huge thank you to everyone involved in this past Sunday’s Youth Sunday service! It was so exciting to watch the youth of our church lead a service by writing the liturgy, the sermons, and even choosing the hymns. We also got the chance to recognize our graduating seniors by presenting them with shawls blessed by and made by the Shawl Ministry of Second Presbyterian Church. Please continue to keep these amazing students in your prayers as they finish out their year.
Families with Young Children Retreat 2019 Over 60 of us gathered at Ferncliff for our annual retreat. We had a wonderful time of rest, renewal, and growing in our faith.
