A nnouncing the Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pope
Francis challenged us to proclaim God’s mercy
“to everyone without exception . . . again and
again, with new enthusiasm and renewed pastoral ac-
tion” (Misericordiae Vultus, 12). Pentecost proclaims
that the door locked for fifty days is thrown open at
last. No longer closed in on itself, the community
speaks to crowds from different backgrounds, distant
lands, exotic languages. Everyone hears their native
language. The Spirit does not restore Babel’s uniform-
ity, but forges unity-in-diversity of language, race, na-
tionality—embracing all without exception. During this
Jubilee Year of Mercy, Pentecost’s Spirit summons us
afresh from mediocrity and isolation to share God’s
mercy with the world. “This is our mission!” Francis
exclaims. We are “given the gift of the ‘tongue’ of the
Gospel and the ‘fire’ of the Holy Spirit, so that while
we proclaim Jesus risen, living and present in our
midst, we may warm . . . the heart of the peoples, draw-
ing near to Him, the way, the truth, and the life” (2015).
- Peter Scagnelli

T o me this feast reminds me each year of the promise Christ made to his disciples and to us all, that he would send the Advocate to be with
us always. This Spirit is alive and well here at St. Agatha's as seen through the works of charity that go on week after week. It is also manifested in the people as they welcome strangers in a wholesome and genuine way. We are the Advocate to those who have lost their way or strayed from the path of Christ. It strikes me in these times, that we need to put our faith in the Spirit and ask for his guidance. Our world is full of violence in many forms, our governments are being questioned on every side and our kids are looking elsewhere for answers. Let us put our faith and love to work as we meet people each day. We can only do what we are able, but there are enough of us to make a difference in this little part of Los Angeles if we are committed. May the Spirit guide you this week and throughout your life.
Have a blessed Pentecost, Sr. Karen Collier

Our women guests were
thrilled to be served a hot sit
down meal of baked chicken
mac and cheese, corn on the
cob, string beans, bread, cake
and a gift bag filled by Shan
and her crew with make up,
toiletries, jewelry and a ton of
love to celebrate and honor
them for Mother's Day. They
were beaming as they sat at the
special reserved tables set
up for them and we served
them. This made a big differ-
ence especially for our
mother's who are separated
from the children and fami-
lies. Ah the smiles on the
faces of our women guests was
priceless and touched the heart.
YOU CHURCH FAMILY
ARE THE BLESSING. We
say this often and we wonder if
you feel in your soul how do-
ing these acts of kindness im-
pacts our guests and leaves
imprints in their lives. This is
that part of "be a blessing" that
we sign off with each week.
Thank you family for your
support in making our Mother's
Day Bake Sale and Raffle suc-
cessful. The Bake items were
perfect for enjoying yourself or
gifting to someone. We hope
that you noticed the sheets
with the family tree and the
small pictures honoring many
of our church mother's when
you sat in the Placita area en-
joying the day.
S.H.A.R.E. Ministry has been
blessed with God sending
saints and wingless angels to
volunteer and serve in giv-
ing their time, talent and treas-
ure each Saturday and when
needed to come before Sunrise
on a Sunday to go that extra
mile to be a part of our fund
raising efforts. Our Ministry
Leaders Azalie and Yolanda
dedicate endless hours of their
time, talent and treasure to
provide the compassionate at-
mosphere that will nurture the
spiritual needs of the volun-
teers that come each Saturday
to fulfill a community service
need or to serve just because.
This Saturday Becky, Tiara,
Conception with Azalie deco-
rated the cakes and cupcakes
that they had made. This took
hours and the end results were
what you saw and purchased
on Sunday. Like the cupcake
bouquet, the high heel shoe,
the rose cupcakes and cakes.
THANK YOU! THANK
YOU! THANK YOU!
Marion Sadler before she went
away donated her famous
sweet potato pie and "oh my
gosh delicious" coconut cake,
Norman McQueen donated her
fantastic mouth watering want-
ing more loaf breads, Gerald-
ine Moran donated her "U
ALL bring on the milk choco-
late cupcakes". Lisa donated her favorite homemade cinna-
mon rolls. Cristina M came
early to set up and serve.
Rachel J and Isabella J served
all day. These two saints al-
ways come when we ask.
Anthony, Jason, Jose and Juan
from Bright Star Academy
came at 6 am to set up, move
tables, sell the baked goodies
and to clean up following the
bake sale. They were a wel-
comed blessing. Amen.
God sent these saints and
wingless angels to serve and
we are once more humbly
grateful and appreciative of
these blessings.
Thank you again for blessing
us with your support that sus-
tains the ST. Agatha outreach
to those in need in our commu-
nity and touches and refuels
the soul of those who serve in
the S.H.A.R.E. Ministry.
Don't be afraid to go out on the
limb to be a blessing for some-
one you pass on your journey
this week. God has your back
and He will give you the com-
fort and courage that you need
to be blessed and be a blessing.
Please continue to pray for
unity and peace everywhere on
this earth.
Blessings,
S.H.A.R.E. Ministry
