Prayer Line: Jo Kusz 651-771-7438

As I mentioned during announcements at the end of the Masses this past weekend, the parish council and I came to a consensus after reviewing the Mass survey results and a broader discussion, that we will be combining the two Sunday morning Masses starting the weekend of 5/26-27th to one 9:30am Mass. Summer Mass attendance is always smaller than normal, and we really see an overall need to creating a worship experience that unites and gathers people together to worship together. Having a fuller Church is a positive for everyone involved since you are able to see more people, worship as one community, and hear others singing songs. Other parishes change their Mass times during the summer because of smaller crowds, so we are not unique in doing this. The parish council and I will evaluate how this went at the end of the summer to see what we should do moving forward. I appreciate your flexibility and patience as we try this out. To kickoff this desire to have a great sense of community, the parish council will be hosting a social activity after the 9:30am Mass on May 27th. This will be more involved than just our typical coffee and donuts Sunday. Once again, starting on May 26-27th, we continue to have the 5:00pm Saturday evening Mass along with a 9:30am Sunday morning Mass. Pax et bonum, - Fr. T.J.

St. Paul reminds us today that all of our gifts have their source in the Holy Spirit and that those gifts are given “for

the common good.” What gifts are mine to share?

Stewardship

Adoration: A Special Invitation from Jesus...

Because Jesus loves you infinitely, unlimited is the joy you bring to His Sacred Heart when you come to spend an hour with Him in the Blessed Sacrament. In an apparition to St. Margaret Mary Alacoque, Jesus spoke these moving words:

There is a VERY URGENT NEED to cover the

following adoration hours as follows:

Tuesday, 10:00 p.m., Thursday, 12:00 Noon Fridays, 5:00 p.m., 9:00 p.m., 10:00 p.m., 11:00 p.m.

Please consider taking an hour. Contact Barb Kleiter at 651-774-1172 or email [email protected]

H.E.O. Update

Thank you for your donations to area food shelves. 65 pounds went to Merrick Comm. Services, on May 14.

Thank you for your generosity! May God bless you!

Online Giving

Angel Program

A brochure and pledge card for the Angel Program for Tuition Assistance can be found at the end of your pew or at the Kennard Street entrance. Please give generously to this important program. Your contribution is a great way to show your support for Catholic education at Presentation!

Attention: Children!

Your sharing of non-perishable food items and/or money in the baskets on the altar at weekend Masses is a beautiful thing! Please help us continue this most generous tradition by bringing those items in and putting them into those baskets at Mass every weekend. Parents, it is heartwarming to see the kiddos skipping up with their items as they learn at an early age to share God’s gifts with the needy in our community. Thanks in advance for promoting this!

Pastoral Care

PASTORAL VISITS: Because of the Right to Privacy laws, Presentation Church is not notified of parishioners who are in the hospital, homebound, or have entered a health care facility. We must hear from you, a family member, or a friend if you wish to be visited by our pastor or pastoral minister. Call our Parish Office, and our receptionist will pass on the information.

GAMBLERS ANONYMOUS meets Thursday evenings at 7:00 pm in the Parish Center lower level. For more information, please call Colleen at 651-295-9853.

Social Concerns

Live Simply, So that Others May Simply Live. Do you long for a stress free life? Maybe we all need to free our lives from too much stuff. I pasted a saying that came in a fortune cookie on a book I have called “Enough: Discovering Joy Through Simplicity and Generosity” . The fortune read “That which you cannot give away, you don’t possess; it possesses you.” We often worry about the future instead of living today fully. In Matthew 6:26 Jesus says, “Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?” Pope Francis makes many references in the “Joy of the Gospel” about our faith life and caring for the poor. In Paragraph 187 he states. “Each individual Christian and every community is called to be an instrument of God for the liberation and promotion of the poor, and for enabling them to fully be a part of society. This demands that we be docile and attentive to the cry of the poor and to come to their aid.” Mother Theresa said “God gives us things to share. God doesn’t give us things to hold.” Remember: Love isn’t love until you give it away. “Never stop doing little things for others. Sometimes, those little things occupy the biggest part of their heart.”

Our parish offers Online Giving so that you have the option to manage your contributions online or with your offering envelopes. This service is safe, secure, and convenient for you and for our parish staff. Sign up for Online Giving by visiting our parish website at www.presentationofmary.org and selecting the Online Giving link, or simply use this convenient QR code on your phone for easy sign-up.

Presentation School News

Therese Canton is retiring! After a very full career of teaching physical education and coaching (36 years), I will be retiring after the end of the school year. I appreciate all that Presentation has done for me and my family. A special thank you to Nikki Giel for handling the school so well this year. Nikki has great enthusiasm and the ability to

network in a positive way. There are many wonderful and caring people that I’ve had a chance to be around. Mostly, I will miss the sheer delight when I watch an excited child learn a new physical skill with friends. I have been a witness to so many fabulous moments! I hope all of you children and those of you who are young at heart will enjoy healthful physical activities for a lifetime and recognize your body as a spiritual gift from God that can be used as a tool to serve others. I hope you will all devote the time to play!

-T. Canton

¨ Our Middle School students enjoyed a day out of the building. They went to Park Square Theatre and saw a production of Anne Frank’s life. Grades 5-8 have all been studying the time period of World War II and this production is a culmination of their hard work and understanding of that time period. After the production they walked to St. Mary’s Church and joined Fr. Benny for a picnic lunch. What a wonderful day!

¨ There is NO SCHOOL Monday May 21st. Our teachers

have a staff development day; please pray for them as they help to keep the students focused during these last few weeks of school.
