From the Pastor:
My dear friends in Christ,
Fans of Social Media would place a # in front of Philip the Apostle and say he is “trending” in Samaria. I’m still trying to learn this and it’s not easy. So what did Philip do to captivate the crowds in this region? His heart was on fire with the “Spirit of truth” promised by Christ! He was filled with the power of love from the Risen Christ and animated by the Spirit that exploded into the world with intensity and enthusiasm through Christ’s own words and deeds. How do we burn with the same spiritual intensity and zeal as Philip? What inspires us to come alive when we engage others in our faith community? What gives us the spiritual fearlessness, intense love, and prudent openness that we see in Philip? If we share the same conviction that we are in Christ and Christ is truly in us, and know that Christ loves us more that we can imagine, we can bring to the world a new hope, a new love. Because God loves us unconditionally, we are imbued with spiritual energy that we need to spread to all that we encounter.
Thursday May 25th is the feast of the Ascension of the Lord. Vigil Mass is on Wednesday May 24th at 7:00pm. Masses on the Holy Day are at 8:00 and 10:00am.
Next Sunday at the 9:30am Mass, we will honor and celebrate Deacon Jim Ayrer’s 25th Anniversary in the Diaconate. A light reception will follow Mass in Bogdan Hall. We ask God’s blessings on Deacon Jim and thank him for all that he does here at Corpus Christi Church.
May God bless you all!
Fr. John
We Celebrate DEACON JAMES AYRER
On His 25th Anniversary of Diaconate Ordination On Tuesday, May 9, 2017, Deacon Jim celebrated the 25th Anniversary of His Diaconate Ordination. How blessed Corpus Christi has been that Deacon Jim has shared his spirituality with all of us throughout these many years. We are so very thankful to God and grateful to Deacon Jim for his unselfish dedication to our parish. We are grateful, also, to Deacon Jim’s wife, Clara, for quietly being “the wind beneath his wings.”
To commemorate this blessed occasion in his life, Deacon Jim will be with us to celebrate the 9:30 AM Mass next Sunday, May 28th and will also preach at that Mass. Following the Mass a light Coffee ’n’ Cake Reception will be held in Deacon Jim’s honor in Bogdan Hall. Please be with us as we honor and respect this very special man in the life of Corpus Christi Parish.

R. C. I. A. ARE YOU SOMEONE OR DO YOU KNOW SOMEONE … who has expressed an interest in becoming Catholic?
Corpus Christi Parish offers an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about our Catholic faith through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), a process through which an adult explores the Catholic faith with others who are reflecting on their calling to become Catholic. RCIA prepares those who have never been baptized for the reception of the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, First Eucharist; those who have been baptized in another Christian faith tradition and wish to become Catholic through the reception of Confirmation and First Eucharist; those who have been baptized Catholic but have not received Confirmation and First Eucharist. In addition, preparation is also offered for adult Confirmation candidates - those who have been baptized and received First Holy Communion, but are still in need of the Sacrament of Confirmation.
To learn more about the RCIA, three inquiry weekends will be held after all Masses: June 10-11; July 15-16; and August 12-13 in the Parish Meeting Room. For more information, please call the Rectory office, 609.877.532
