ENTERING GOD’s PRESENCE
Prayers Thank you, Father, for your mercy and your grace. By the power of Holy Spirit, you have convicted us of our sins, convinced us of the truths concerning your son Jesus, and comforted us with your tender care. Father, you have called us out of darkness into your light. We cherish your promise to complete in us the work which you started in us. We submit ourselves to you, as you continue conforming us according to the likeness of Jesus Christ. May we be more like him each and every day. Wash us now by the water of your word and transform us by the renewing of our minds. To your glory and for the advancement of your kingdom on earth. Amen. Now, Almighty and everlasting Lord, ruler of all, we commend our nation and its leaders to Your supreme care. We humbly ask that you have mercy on this nation and call us to loving repentance. Purge our land from sinful pleasures, dishonesty and corruption. By Your mighty hand shield this nation from evil so Your church can do its work in peace. Bless our president, the members of Congress, and all officials who serve us in national, state and local government. Impress upon those who serve this nation to grasp the sacredness of the responsibility You have placed upon them. Give our leaders the gifts for righteous leadership, wisdom to make decisions that will bring godly order, justice to our society, and compassion for the weary. Transform the hearts and minds of all who are in authority so their governance might glorify You. Give us hearts to continually pray for our leaders. Provide us with free-dom of worship and a nation in which Your church might flourish by the clear proclamation of Your Gospel. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
Call to Worship based on Psalm 92
It is good to give thanks to the Lord, to sing praises to your name, O Most High;
to declare your steadfast love in the morning, and your faithfulness by night;
For you, O Lord, have made me glad by your work; at the works of your hands let us sing for joy.

PRAYING FOR GOVERNMENT
“I exhort therefore, that,
first of all, supplications,
prayers, intercessions, and
giving of thanks, be made
for all men; For kings, and
for all that are in
authority; that we may
lead a quiet and peaceable
life in all godliness and
honesty” (1 Timothy 2:1-2,
KJV).
The kings of the earth set
themselves, and the rulers
take counsel together,
against the Lord and
against His Anointed,
saying, ‘Let us break Their
bonds in pieces and cast
away Their cords from us.’
He who sits in the heavens
shall laugh …” (Psalm 2:2-
4).

Benediction from 1 Timothy 6
People of God, do not set your hopes on the uncertainty of riches,
but rather on the richness of God, who provides us everything for our
enjoyment. Be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share. In the name
of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven.

1 Timothy 2:1-7 UBS Handbook Translation*
1 In the light of what I have said, I strongly recommend that you
earnestly ask God to supply the needs of everyone, that you pray
for others, that you pray on behalf of all people, and that you
thank God for what he has done for everyone.
2 You should pray for kings and all people who are in positions
of authority, that in every way we may live peaceful and quiet
lives, showing great devotion and reverence for God, and
behaving in a right and proper way before others.
3 It is good for you to pray for all people in this way, and God our
Savior, the one who frees us from our sins, is very happy when
you do this. 4 He wants all people to receive salvation and accept
the teachings about Christ.
5 For there is only one God for all people, and there is only one
person who can reconcile all humans with God. This person is
Christ Jesus, himself human. 6 He sacrificed himself as the means
by which God will free all people from the power of sin and
death. By the sacrificial death of Jesus, God gave evidence at the
right time that he indeed wants all people to be saved.
7 It is for this reason that God appointed me as an ambassador to
those who are not Jews. In this capacity I must preach the
message about Jesus to them, and teach the true teachings about
Jesus. What I have just said is true! I am not lying!

Pray for TERC—
1. That we would have unity amid diversity—loving those with
whom we have nothing in common but the gospel.
2. That a culture of discipling would form in which making disciples
is viewed as an ordinary part of the Christian life.
3. That faithful elders would use Scripture to train members to do the
work of ministry.
4. That a hunger for studying the gospel would form among mem-
bers so that they can guide and guard one another in it.
5. That transparent, meaningful relationships would become normal
and remaining anonymous strange.
6. The preaching of God’s Word—that it would be biblically careful
and Holy Spirit imbued.
7. That elders would remain above reproach, kept from temptation,
complacency, idols, and worldliness.
8. That the church’s songs would teach members to biblically confess,
lament, and praise.
9. That the church’s prayers would be infused with biblical ambi-
tions, honesty, and humility.
10. That adult members would work to disciple teenagers and not
just leave it to programming.
11. That the church’s primary teachers grow in dedication to God’s
Word even when no one’s watching.
12. That it would grow in being distinct from the world in love and
holiness, even as it engages outsiders.
13. That members would share the gospel this week—and see more
conversions!
14. That members would be prepared for persecution, r emember-
ing to love, not curse, their persecutors.
15. That hopes for political change would be outstretched by the hope
of heaven.
16. That giving would be faithful, as well as joyful, consistent, and
sacrificial.
17. That more members would use their careers to take the gospel to
places it’s never been.
