DOGS ELIGIBLE TO ENTER 

This event is open to all dogs four (4) months of age or older that are registered with the American Kennel Club through the Foundation Stock Service (FSS).  Professional Handlers are permitted to exhibit in Open Shows providing that they are listed as an owner of the entered dog. Professional Handlers are defined according to the AKC Rules Applying to Dog Shows, Chapter 3, Section 7.  Dogs should be physically sound. No dog shall be judged if it is taped, bandaged, glued, or stitched anywhere, including ears or tail, in any way or has anything attached to it for medical purposes. Puppies under four (4) months of age are strictly prohibited from the event grounds.

for all Classes of Berger Picards and Best in Show Mr. Merle Taylor ( No. 17377)

Mr. Merle Taylor first entered the show ring with a Scottish Terrier puppy in 1970 and has been active in the sport ever since.  Mr. Taylor bred numerous Scottish Terrier champions under the Jabberwok prefix including Best In Show, National and Regional Specialty winners and has owned champion Bouviers, Affenpinschers, Brussels Griffons, Norwich Terriers, Pointers, and a Beauceron.  As a professional handler, Mr. Taylor finished championships in all groups.   

Mr. Taylor taught high school business for 38 years and began judging in 2000. Mr. Taylor is President of the Champaign Illinois Kennel Club as well as an active member of three other all­breed kennel clubs.  He is also chairman of the Scottish Terrier Club of America’s Standard Committee.  Mr. Taylor served as Match Secretary for the American Beauceron Club’s A Match and Show Chair for the ABC’s first national specialty.  In conjunction with that same event, Mr. Taylor stewarded for the large entry of Berger Picard for their 2010 National Elevage. Mr. Taylor currently judges the Terrier Group, Herding Group, and thirteen Toy breeds.

 Berger Picard  Challenge Trophy 

 First offered in 2013 by Patty Newgard and Jacqueline Carswell of Carnasserie Kennels, this beautiful 12 inch silverplated Georgian Cup rests on a six inch cherrywood base. The Challenge Trophy is National Specialty Winner’s trophy for the Berger Picard Club of America. Each year thename of the Best of Breed of the BPCA National Specialty along with the name of his/his owner(s) and breeder(s) will be engraved on an individual plate attached to one of the three sides. For permanent possession, this trophy has to be won three times by the same owner, not necessarily 

with the same dog nor at consecutive shows.  Otherwise the trophy remains in the club’s possession until its retirement. 

A memento trophy is offered by the club president.

Tentative Schedule for the weekend 

Saturday: 

✦Evaluations will be scheduled 10 minutes apart starting at 8 am.  Please comply with the schedule so that the judge will be able to stay on schedule. 

✦CGC and CGCA testing will be done concurrently with the evaluations. Cost is $10 and includes Club Rosette if passed.

DIRECTIONS  

Columbus All­Breed Training Club is located at 2164 Williams Road, Obetz, Ohio 43207. It is located off the southeastern section of the I­270 beltway around Columbus, Ohio.  There is a lot of construction on the highways through the center of Columbus so avoid these if coming from the north.  Exit 49 off of  I­270 and turn left onto Alum Creek Drive. Follow Alum Creek Drive for about 1.3 miles.  Turn left onto Williams Road. Show grounds will be on the right.     From the Comfort Inn:   Head south on Old Rathmell Ct/Rathmell Rd.  At the traffic circle, take the 1 st exit onto Groveport Rd. Take the next right (.1 mile) onto Alum Creek Drive.  Take a slight left (.4 mile) to stay on Alum Creek Drive.  Turn left onto Williams Road (1.1 miles).  Show grounds will be on the right.

Campers and RV’s are welcome to park at the show site on Saturday night.  However there are no hook ups or dumping of sewage.  

 

 

 

 

Attention Exhibitors SHOW SITE 

Show site is available to exhibitors after 7:00 AM on Saturday, September 27, 2014. 

 

SAFETY, BEHAVIOR, and LIABILITY 

The safety of the dogs is our primary concern. By entering this event, exhibitors acknowledge that they are familiar with the rules and regulations of this sport. 

It is expressly understood that exhibitors alone are responsible for the behavior of their dogs and/or children. Any exhibitor whose dogs and/or children create an unnecessary disturbance or repeatedly engage in unsafe or disruptive behavior may, at the discretion of the event committee, be asked to leave the show site. In such case, no refund of any fees paid will be made. The Berger Picard Club of America and it’s agents, employees, etc., will assume no responsibility for any loss, damage, or injury sustained by exhibitors, spectators, or handlers to their dogs, property, or children. The BPCA reserves the right to decline entries for cause and may remove any dog on account of aggression. No one shall have any recourse or claim against the BPCA, the show secretary, or any official thereof. 

DOGS MUST BE ON A LEASH AT ALL TIMES WHEN ON EVENT GROUNDS  

NO FLEXI­LEADS,  PRONG or ELECTRIC COLLARS 

REFUNDS or CHANGES 

No entry fee will be refunded if the event cannot open or be completed by the reason of riots, civil disturbances, fire, an act of God, public emergency, act of a public enemy, or any other cause beyond the control of the organizing committee. No entry fee will be refunded in the event a dog is absent, disqualified, excused, or barred from the competition for any reason. 

There will be no refund for duplicate entries. 

Changes, additions, or corrections to entry forms must be received in writing prior to close of entries. Those received by telephone are not acceptable. 

RINGSIDE 

Dogs must be ready for judging. Showtime: 9:00AM.  Neither the club nor it’s Show Secretary will be responsible or obligated to furnish any service notifying exhibitors or their agents of Breed or Class Judging. Judges need not wait for any dog holding up a class. Owners or agents alone are responsible for the presence of their dogs in the judging rings.  

Dogs need be present only for scheduled judging and will be released if not needed for further judging. 

Dogs allowed in the rings during judging and professional photography only. 

 

CLEAN UP 

Please clean up after your dogs, your children, and yourself. 

Pick­up hair and debris after grooming.  

Please be neat and place all garbage in the dumpster or trash cans as soon as possible.
