Things with Pastor Ollie are moving forward, and we will begin seeing him around the middle of June! He does not have a home in Columbus yet, but things are coming together. Their home in Utah is sold.

They are very excited about joining us and serving in and with our community! He and Karen have continued to keep us in their prayers. Both are ready to see how God’s hand is moving them in this next season at Trinity.

Please continue to keep them both in your prayers as they move and begin settling in.

Kids today are more aware of people’s needs all over the world. They want to make a difference! This summer they will have the opportunity to make a lifelong impact on children, families, and even communities throughout Zambia Africa.

The donations kids bring to Summer Sundays each week is used to give moms and dads the education and nutritional guidance they need to give their babies the best start possible.

This helps them to fight infection, grow strong bodies, succeed in school, get jobs as adults and contribute to the prosperity of their communities.

Breakout Graduates Plan To Serve

The four years of Breakout has ended for these sixth graders; but their journey as Jesus followers has not.

Our Summer Sunday students are looking forward to these Breakout graduates leading on June 9. There is nothing like the whole-hearted enthusiasm of young people to bring a Bible truth to life!

We are blessed to have adult and student Breakout leaders who have invested their time, talent and heart in helping their students know, grow, serve and share Jesus. They are excited to share the fun and the mission experiences with their students June 9, 12 & 13.

ROAR! Life is Wild — God is Good

We are getting ready for a wild adventure this summer! Our Sunday mornings will be filled with incredible Bible learning experiences kids see, hear, touch and sometimes even taste. Sciency-fun gizmos, games, cool Bible songs, mission and acts of kindness are some of the activities that help faith flow into real life. Plus, we’ll help kids discover how to see evidence of God in every-day life.

In June we will be following the Israelites when they are slaves for the Egyptians and when God sends plagues on Egypt. We see how life was unfair and also scary. Life can be unfair and scary for our kids sometimes, too. We want kids to discover even when life is wild; God is good. He loves them and is good all the time.

Each week is a stand-alone session,

perfect for bringing your kids and their friends!

On June 2, our Junior High Team will head to

Pine Ridge, SD to serve the Lakota people on

their mission trip this summer. This team

consists of Ava Mueller, Selby Connelly, Calista

Kumm, Sydnee Medinger, Jess Larson, Reagan

Messersmith, Gavin Ohnemus, Landon Sliva,

Cohen Calahan and Luke Curry. Serving as

adult leaders are Michelle Stirek, Jen Calahan

and Pastor Brandon Foster.

During their week at the Pine Ridge

Reservation, our students will work in

partnership with local organizations on

construction projects, building relationships

and bringing hope to the Lakota people. Our

students will also learn the challenges that

face the people of Pine Ridge and understand

how the Gospel of Jesus Christ is working to

change lives.

Did you know that there are youth in your area who need a safe, loving and stable home? 1 John 3:18 commands us to “love people not only with words and talk but by our actions and true caring.” Romans 12:13 takes this even further by suggesting, “Share with God’s people who need help. Bring strangers in need into your homes.” While not every home is fit to be open for fostering youth, there is a huge need for those who are able to respond to the cry for help. From the Pastor: Here, birdie, birdie, birdie!

“Watch the blameless and observe the upright, for the person of peace will have a future.” -Psalm 37:37 (CSB)

I am not a bird person. They are everywhere. They make their homes in places I would prefer them not to, and they leave their mark in places that are ridiculously hard to clean up. The fact that people can make them their pets gives me the heebie-jeebies. Birds are not my thing. At all.

So, you can imagine my surprise when I was challenged one day to think about what kind of bird I am. A mentor of mine was sharing that “I’m like a bird” (cue Nelly Furtado). He shared that birds show us some important things because of what they focus on. Some hone in on the sweet stuff of life, some help in making life happen and some are only interested in pecking dead things. Then he asked, “So, what kind of bird are you?”

He then shared this: the vulture is interested in dead things. It loves to seek and find the things that are close to death and then watches them die. A group of them is called a “committee,” and they love to help along the end of life so they can get something out of it. He encouraged us to watch out for the vultures.

He then shared this: the hummingbird is interested in the sweet things of life. They seek out that which is pleasing and, by finding it, gain life by enjoying it. In doing so, they are able to give more life to the world. A group of hummingbirds is called a “charm,” and they love to showcase the beauty of the world. He encouraged us to look for these birds that are desirable.

He then asked again, “What kind of bird are you?”

After thinking on this question, I realized that I tend toward vulture tendencies, and that it’s really, REALLY easy for me to keep my eyes attentive to the vultures. But who God makes me is a hummingbird. What He wants me to focus on is what the hummingbird attends to.

Think about these words from Philippians 4:8: “Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” God gives us minds to seek out that which is life-giving; and as we seek it out, we find the life He promises.

The words from Psalm 37:37 brought this even more into focus for me. As we let our minds think about the things that are true, noble, right, pure, lovely, admirable, excellent and praiseworthy, we see how blameless and upright they are. As we watch and pay attention to our thoughts about those things, we see how good they are. We learn how they bring us peace. Here’s the biggest clue: what we think is what we do.

Because we are so prone to thinking like vultures, searching for the critical things and pecking them, we end up robbing ourselves of peace. We then, in turn, live by blaming. We act unfairly, and our lives are filled with unrest and disruption. There’s no good future in that way of being.

By the way, this is all because of our sin. Sin has put us all at war, and it’s a war we won’t win on our own. Sin deadens us and takes away our future.

That’s why Jesus came. His life was filled with blamelessness; He lived uprightly. He is the person of peace, and with Him is a future. He died to take away our sin and rose to give us new life so that when we trust Him; we are a person of peace with a life and a future. Jesus make us hummingbirds! He wants us to live life focused on the sweet things that give life to others who focus in on beauty.

Could I become a hummingbird? The answer in Jesus is “yes!” The same is true for you. Set your mind on things above,

and Jesus will renew you to be who He’s made you to be.

When you see a hummingbird

It is very lucky indeed,

Because it is known

As a healer

If you’re ever in need.

Despite its small size

It flies great distances

And even flies

Backwards too.

A reminder to

Reconnection is all about powering up, getting a boost and making bigger and brighter what’s already there. When we reconnect, we become the person we want to be.

At the start of this year, we looked at a verse of Scripture (Jeremiah 9:24) that we wanted to define us as the people of God. We want to be people reconnected to God. This sermon series is going to look at what connection is already available to us and the opportunity we have when we purposefully pursue God’s character in our own lives.
