Dear Friends,   Even though it’s been so cold, let me remind you: Spring is here! Soon trees and flowers will be in full bloom and bring beauty to our neighborhood. Here at Saint Bartholomew we have begun to renovate our grounds. As you can see we removed many of the old bushes and replaced the area with grass seed. Removing the large bushes has added about 9 feet of space in front of our church. I am hoping that we will be able to use this space for our first communion pictures and other parish events. We will soon be restoring the rest of the church doors to their original beauty. Finally, we are waiting on the final bids for the exterior work on the church. Once we choose a company we will begin the necessary work on our church and tower. Our young people are speaking this weekend at all the masses asking for your generosity in the second collection today. These monies will directly help pay for their pilgrimage to Poland this July. We will have another collection for them in June. I have no doubt that you will do all you can for our parish youth. Thanks again for all you do for this parish as well as for your prayers and support for me and all our staff!

Queridos Amigos,

A pesar de que ha estado muy frío, permítanme recordarles: ¡la primavera está aquí! Pronto los árboles y las flores estarán en plena floración y traerán belleza a nuestro barrio. Aquí en San Bartolomé hemos comenzado a renovar nuestros jardines. Como se puede ver, hemos eliminado muchos de los viejos arbustos y reemplazamos el área con semillas de césped. La eliminación de los arbustos grandes ha añadido alrededor de 9 pies de espacio en el frente de nuestra iglesia. Tengo la esperanza de que seremos capaces de utilizar este espacio para las fotos de nuestras primeras comuniones y otros eventos de la Parroquia. Pronto estaremos restaurando el resto de las puertas de la iglesia a su belleza original. Por último, estamos a la espera de las ofertas finales para el trabajo en el exterior de la iglesia. Una vez que elijamos una empresa vamos a comenzar el trabajo necesario en nuestra iglesia y torre. Nuestros jóvenes están hablando este fin de semana en todas las Misas pidiendo por su generosidad en la segunda colecta de hoy. Estos fondos ayudarán a pagar directamente su peregrinación a Polonia este mes de julio. Tendremos otra colecta para ellos en junio. No tengo ninguna duda de que van a hacer todo lo posible por los jóvenes de nuestra Parroquia. ¡Gracias de nuevo por todo lo que hacen para esta Parroquia, así como por sus oraciones y apoyo para mí y para todo el personal!

NEW ENGLISH HYMNALS We have purchased about 600 new hardcover hymnals in English for the church and chapel.  In order to assist  with  the  cost  of  these  new  hymnals  we  are  requesting  a  $20  donation.    You  will  have  the  opportunity to donate a hymnal and we will place a sticker of the inside cover. You can donate more than one hymnal.  Please choose one of the samples below and return in the Sunday collection with $20.

The death of someone close to us can be difficult and challenging.  The parish is here to help. Four of our  parishioners have been trained in Bereavement Ministry.   

THE NEXT GATHERING  WILL TAKE PLACE ON  

TUESDAY, APRIL 19, 2016  AFTER THE 9AM MASS IN HEAFEY HALL (Ithaca Street)  

During  the  meeting  we  have  the  opportunity  to  pray,  listen  and  share.   If you are not comfortable sharing…that’s ok!  You can just come to pray and  listen.  Consider attending this special evening.  

HELP  WANTED—LAY  MINISTERS:  We  are  in  needed  of  more  ministers:    ushers,  lectors  and  extraordinary  ministers  of  holy  communion.    Would  you  like  to  give  of  your  time  to  serve  your  parish  on  Saturday  or  Sunday  –  at  least  once  a  month?    All  it  requires  is  a  brief  interview  with  one  of  the  parish  priests  and  a  Saturday training session for a few hours.  Please take this week to PRAY  about it.  Fill out this slip and return it in the collection basket next week.  One of the priests will contact you.  Thanks!!  Name:____________________________________________ Phone:_________________________________
