STATE OF THE ART FEEDLOT EFFICIENCYSundown transports its cattle to the Gunnee Feedlot for finishing within 45 to 100 days depending on domestic or overseas market being targeted.The Gunnee Feedlot also has close access to processing plants in Tamwoth, Inverell and Southern Queensland. The Gunnee Feedlot is well located between the major highways of New England and Newell which connect the capital cities of Sydney and Brisbane.The Gunnee property has a total of 1,653.46 hectares of black and chocolate basalt soils and has an annual rainfall of 29 inches (725mm). While the property is run as a feedlot operation approximately 80% of the land is arable which can be grazed and cropped.
The current feedlot is licensed to 10,000 head with annual turnover of cattle of approximately 39,000 head.Gunnee Feedlot Pty Ltd has plans to expand its capacity and production through a 2-stage program of expanding its feedlot capacity to 14,000 head and adding a supplementary area of 5,000 head. This expansion will increase the Gunnee Feedlot annual cattle turnover from 39,000 to 92,000 head per annum.

Established in 1951 ( over 50 years ) with new facilities built in Whittingham Hunter Valley in 2000.
EXPERIENCE:
Integrated process line from state of the art holding pens with a capacity of 4000 cattle to:
• Electric stunning slaughter floor • Boning room • Offal and Tripe rooms • Cold store • Plate freezers • Rendering plant
This provides for high capacity production. Approximate total capacity of 120,000 per annum.
