BFT Retired Teachers

Donate Books to Roy Allen Elementary

MELBOURNE, FLA. – Local retired mem-bers of the Brevard Federation of Teachers,Sheila Bollinger, Fran Baer, Linda Vinson, and Rita Hewett joined forces with Marlene Waclawski and Bonnie Miller, retired em-ployees of Florida Air Academy, to promote a love of reading at Roy Allen Elementary.

When hearing that primary students at Roy Allen Elementary were in need of new books, these volunteers gathered together to assemble pre-made care packages for every student in grades pre-K through

first. Each package was comprised of one recycled storybook and a matching toy. Students were able to browse and select a book bag of their choice, each of which contained a poem and a note about recy-cling books to preserve the environment. “The students were so excited about this wonderful treat,” said principal, Lori Mi-gliore. “As they entered the building, they proudly held up their bag, squealing with joy over their selection. What a wonderful way to continue to give to our students.”

Did you know Brevard Public Schools has a cable channel? This channel is only avail-able on Bright House channel 496. This channel is going through some upgrades currently to give it a new look and more dynamic features. Brevard County school board meetings are streamed live, and if you cannot tune in Tuesday nights, the meetings are aired multiple times throughout the week.In addition to board meetings this channel provides informative and diverse content. Some of these pieces are produced in-house by the members of our

BPS TV production team. We like to think of that department as the news outlet of the school district. BPS TV covers school events throughout the county so our stakeholders can stay on top of the focus of Brevard Public Schools.
