The dinner brought out a record number of 575 attendees Thanks to thegenerous donations of the dinner sponsors and those who could not join usbut offered generous donations and other support the event was aresounding success The total funds raised were the highest in the history of


the Admiralrsquos Dinner and will go a long way to fund many scholarships fordeserving SUNY Maritime students The traditional auctioning of theAdmiralrsquos ldquocoverrdquo was one of the highlights The winning bidder AngelikiFrangou Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer NaviosMaritime Holdings Inc paid an all-time record high price $36000 We arealso very grateful to Ms Frangou and Navios for their generosity and themany attendees who bought individual scholarships during the auction

Marine Society Vice President Steven Bendo lsquo94 awarded The MarineSociety of the City of New York Presidentrsquos Challenge Cup to the Maritimeteam along with a $1000 check The donation will support Maritimersquoswaterfront programs This was the fourth consecutive year that Maritime wonthe race Monomoy racing has a long tradition in the maritime industry andthe event drew a large crowd of supporters from both schools
