Gas cost increase ____________
PUBLIC NOTICEThe Wyoming Public Service Commission
(Commission) approved the Application of Montana-Dakota Utilities Co. (MDU or the Company) to pass on a wholesale gas cost increase of $0.266 per dekatherm (Dth) to its Residential, Firm General Service customers, an increase of $0.220 per Dth to its Small Interruptible and Large Interruptible customers, and an increase of $2.032 per Dth to its Seasonal customers through its CBA, effective for use on and after October 1, 2020. The proposed pass-on increases are attributable to an increase in the overall commodity price. The Commission’s approval is subject to notice, protest, intervention, refund, change, further investigation, opportunity for hearing and further order of the Commission.
The average MDU residential customer using 6.8 Dth in October 2020 will see a monthly bill increase of approximately $1.81 per Dth (4.32%) before taxes. Actual bills will vary with usage.
The proposed pass-on results in a projected dollar-for-dollar increase of approximately $53,000 in the Company’s October 2020 revenues. The increase does not change the Company’s authorized rate of return.
Commission Rule Chapter 3, Section 26 allows a utility to pass on to its customers known or projected commodity cost increases or decreases on a dollar-for-dollar basis, subject to public notice, opportunity for hearing and refund.
MDU’s Application is on file at the Commission’s offices in Cheyenne, Wyoming, and is available for inspection by any interested person during regular business hours or online at: http://psc.state.wy.us/.
Anyone desiring to file a statement, intervention petition, protest or request for a public hearing in this
matter must file in writing with the Commission on or before November 5, 2020. A proposed intervention or request for hearing must set forth the grounds under which they are made and the position and interest of the petitioner in this proceeding. Please mention Docket No. 30013-369-GP-20 (Record No. 15611) in your communications.
If you wish to intervene in this matter or request a public hearing that you will attend, or want to make a statement, a protest or a public comment, and you require reasonable accommodation for a disability, please contact the Commission at (307) 777-7427, or write to the Commission at 2515 Warren Avenue, Suite 300, Cheyenne, Wyoming 82002, to make arrangements.
