Thank you to H. H. Dow High’s Principal, Dr. Steve Poole; Go Green Club Sponsor, Cynthia Roberts; and Go Green student members, Isabel Velasquez, Jacqueline Laurin, Carina Gipson, Emilio Cuellar, Maureen Meadow and Jason Wegner for presenting at the November 19 Board of Education Meeting. This Charger Go Green Club began just a year and a half ago and has accomplished great things in a very short time. This committed group of Chargers spoke about their recycling/reuse work; the sharing carts and shelves that allows students to share both fruit, milk and school supplies with fellow Chargers; hosting guest speakers; spreading awareness; spreading their message out in the community; and more. A huge project they have taken on very recently is dismantling a greenhouse at SVSU and reassembling/building it on the DHS campus. They ended their presentation by looking at future goals/projects for the Club and thanking those around them for their support.
Midland Rotary Members Connect and Read with 2nd Grade Siebert Bulldogs In Mid-November, Midland Rotary members provided lunch, spent time reading with Siebert Elementary Second Grade students, and provided books for the 2nd grade Bulldogs to take home and enjoy. This was such a positive experience for our students, and the Rotary volunteers seemed to enjoy their time with our young learners.
Thank you Midland Rotary!

Creative Chemists
There are always many creative students in chemistry, and this year is no
exception. The creativity ranges from creating 3D models of atoms and instruments
depicting the contributions of early research scientists, to 3D Periodic Table models
of the atomic trends, to poetry, drawings, and “moles” from Mole Day.
The American Chemical Society sponsored an illustrated poem contest for National Chemistry Week and students
could submit an original poem with an illustration. H. H. Dow High School students’ Molly Birch submitted a poem
and placed 2nd and Christi LeCaptain submitted a poem and received Honorable Mention. Dow High is very proud of
both of these young women for their creation of an original piece of art.
H. H. Dow High’s FIRST Robotics Team ‘The Charge’ Outreach The Dow High Robotics Team 2619, The Charge, joined community volunteers to help ‘Aaron’s Gifts from Home’ prepare and pack more than 200 care packages for U.S. soldiers serving overseas.

MPS FIRST Lego League teams Get Ready for Into Orbit Season! The MPS FIRST Lego League (FLL) Robotics teams have been busy with this year's season and challenge - Into Orbit. In the FIRST Lego League program, which is for students in Grades 4 and 5, teams are challenged to build and program a Lego Mindstorms Robot that will complete a variety of missions as related to this year's theme such as space travel, aerobic exercise in space, meteoroid deflection and food production. In addition, teams complete a project where they identify, research and come up with a solution to real-life problems. This year the teams will identify a physical or social problem faced by humans during long-duration space exploration within our sun’s solar system, research the problem and propose a solution. For the 2018 seasons, our six teams have been busy preparing to compete at the Ready, Set, Lego Competition which will be held on December 1st in Freeland. Good luck to our MPS teams - Adams Space Squirtles and Lego Explosion, Siebert Bulldog Builders and Binary Bulldogs, and Woodcrest Space Savers and Cyclone Wolverines!

The students at Plymouth began this school year in Spanish talking about
diversity and how we all
have a unique skin color.
Both students and staff
were challenged to get a
paint sample that matched
their skin color. Then, they
wrote their name on their
unique shade and put it on
a bulletin board outside the
Spanish classroom.
What a colorful world we have!

Last Saturday evening, students from Siebert and Adams Culture Clubs attended Diwali Festival, a celebration of lights. They learned that this festival is very similar in many ways to holidays they celebrate, revolving around food, friends, and family. A special thank you to Kaustav Misra and the India Association of East Central Michigan for inviting students from Midland Public Schools.
Kudos to the Midland High Key Club
and other Chemics who donated their
time to helping with the community
