AN UNEXPECTED PREDICAMENT

De Boer has been called on to work with a growing number ofretailers needing short-term support. These have included Ikea,which discovered the advantages of temporary structures after abusy store in Amsterdam was badly damaged by heavy rainfall.Seventy thousand litres of water cascaded through the building,ripping apart the roof and leaving the entire upper showroomout of action. De Boer’s experts were on site within 24 hours andwere hired to erect a showroom on the store’s adjacent car park.Two structures were supplied, providing Ikea with a temporaryshowroom measuring 1,600 square metres – and enablingcustomers to return to the store within a week of the floodingtaking place.
In the UK, De Boer was praised after coming to the rescue of aleading Scottish wholesaler that lost its mighty cash-and-carrywarehouse in a devastating blaze. De Boer’s replacementstructure – measuring 5,100 square metres – allowed thebusiness to resume trading just five months after the fire.
