Supervisor is the ultimate software package for health and safety professionals who are measuring noise and vibration. It supports the full range of Svantek’s health and safety instrumentation which includes hand-held sound level meters, bodily worn noise dosimeters and hand-arm and whole-body human vibration instruments.

Every instrument connected to Supervisor is remembered which enables the easy creation of instruments' data base. Downloaded data files are assigned to a specific instrument by serial number which enables fast & easy data browsing. Additionally Supervisor gives the user intuitive tools for data organization by means of a folder-structured data base within the software. In practice this means there’s no more time-consuming data searching through your PC’s memory – the relevant data file can be quickly located and opened and a personalized report created.

Supervisor Applications

Hand-Arm Vibration Exposure Calculation to ISO 5349-2

ISO 5349-2 gives practical guidance on how to measure hand-arm transmitted vibration at the workplace. The strategy for measurement requires that at least three samples are taken into the calculation of daily vibration exposure. This kind of measurement is possible with the SV 106 Human Vibration Analyser with dosimeter mode enabled and Hand-Arm vibration settings selected. The measurement data files are downloaded into the Supervisor data base and are assigned either to a user or to a task and all calculations are done automatically.Measurement results are expressed in m/s2 and can be directly compared to the limits given within European Directive 2002/44/EC. It is also possible to convert units into Points; widely used by health & safety professionals. All information displayed within the panel window is directly printable to the report.

Whole-Body Vibration Exposure Calculation to ISO 2631-2

ISO 2631-1 defines general guidance on the method of the assessment of whole-body vibration exposure. The measurement can be performed with Svantek’s SV 106 Human Vibration analyser or SV 100 Whole-Body Vibration meter. The measurement data files downloaded into Supervisor’s data base are assigned either to the user or to a task and all calculations are done automatically. Measurement results are expressed in m/s2 and can be directly compared to limits given by the European Directive 2002/44/EC. It is also possible to convert units into Points which widely used in health & safety sector. A single mouse click on the Mode, switches to a calculation based on VDV which may be necessary if the vibration was characterized as impulsive. All information displayed within the panel window is directly printable to the report.

Supervisor software offers you the tools to simulate hypothetical situations in which the noise is different from that measured.Selection of the relevant data gives the possibility to create scenarios where the measured data is shifted up or down for any given dB value. It is also possible to simulate the situation where noise is equal to a given dB value or completely removed from time history.Recalculation of the data is performed automatically and both the original and recalculated values are shown giving a "What if" analysis tool.

Supervisor Applications

Simulation of changes of noise source emission

Creating a report with Supervisor is very fast and easy. The user just needs to select the relevant data file and open it by double clicking. Measurement data is automatically grouped into context panels which can be opened and closed with a single click. The order of panels can be rearranged using a simple drag & drop technique. A comprehensive report can then be generated by simply clicking on the MS Word™ icon. One big advantage of such an approach is that it gives the user full control over the report layout. Whenever desired, the layout can be saved as a report template and used repeatedly for other data files. Panels can not only contain measured data and data recalculations but they can also contain text descriptions and photos to further enrich the measurement report.

Supervisor Applications

Supervisor software provides a complete tool for the determination of occupational noise exposure from noise level measurements. It provides automatic calculation of all the required measurement results and uncertainties in accordance to the three measurement strategies described in ISO 9612: task-based, job-based and full-day.

Noise exposure recalculations in accordance with ISO 9612

Workers have to wear suitable hearing protection if the noise level in the workplace exceeds the second action level of 85 decibels. What constitutes suitable hearing protection is dependent on the makeup of the noise in the workplace and therefore should be based on real noise measurement.Different hearing protection has different attenuation characteristics and these are quantified using three methods:SNR - Single Number Rating,HML - High, Medium and Low frequency method, using A-weighted and C-weighted sound measurements in the calculationOctaves - the most accurate method requiring measurement in 1/1 octave bandsSupervisor software supports all three methods allowing users to build up a hearing protection data base. The selection of the most suitable hearing protection is then done automatically using the data files containing the relevant noise results.

Hearing protection selection in accordance with ISO 4869-2
