The company plans to build a combined 350,000 units of the new 3 series at the four plants this year. BMW is responsible for off-line assembly of cockpit, front-end and door modules at its Munich plant. Faurecia assembles the front ends and seats for the new 3 series in Leipzig, Regensburg and Rosslyn. Optional technology seen on the latest generation 5 series, which debuted in 2003, is filtering down to the new 3 series. For example, Robert Bosch supplies adaptive cruise control.
