Cora Illmgseorth, Charles -Im Commissioner Savino began to criticlie Mayor Bogle last Mon- day night for tolerating the pro- fessional Bingo games on Valley Brook Avenue, but wound up Sympathizing with him. Bogle pointed out that only a few peo- ple ever objected to the games, while there were many who wanted them. Savino than charged that or- ganized minorities were running the municipal government to the detriment of the majority He said that it was the majority’s own fault for not letting their voices be heard. Bo*le is wrong when he said that only a few people object to these games. The fact of the mat- ter is that a great many object, and st one meeting of the Board o f Commissioners over 50 people appeared and demanded that Bojple stop the games when they were operating on Stuyvesant Avenue. The Mayor is playing a short- sighted political game when he goes along with a small organ- ized minority in a matter of this kind. After ail, he is Mayor of Lyndhurst because he was able to carry a Commissioner’s elec- tion. At these elections over 5.000 people vote and no small group of 50 to LOO organization votes carry much weight. Mayor Bogle and the other Commissioners should remember that In a Commissioners’ election, the majority of voters are un- organised and vote for those men they feel will give them the best government. There never has been a political organization in Lyndhurst yet that could control over 1,000 vote* in whatever manner they wanted them. Most of the voters have to be con- vinced by common sense argu- ment before you get their man- date. ---------- ............ Commissioner Savino began to criticlie Mayor Bogle last Mon­day night for tolerating the pro­fessional Bingo games on Valley Brook Avenue, but wound up Sympathizing with him. Bogle pointed out that only a few peo­p le ever objected to the games, w hile there were many who wanted them.

Savino than charged that or­ganized minorities were running th e municipal government to the detriment of the majority H e said that it was the majority’s ow n fault for not letting their voices be heard.

Bo*le is wrong when he said th a t only a few people object to these games. The fact of the m at­te r is that a great many object, and st one meeting of the Board o f Commissioners over 50 people appeared and demanded that Bojple stop the games when they w ere operating on Stuyvesant Avenue.

The Mayor is playing a sh ort­sighted political game w h e n he goes along with a small org an ­ized minority in a matter of this kind. A fter ail, he is Mayor of Lyndhurst because he was able to carry a Commissioner’s elec­tion. At these elections over 5.000 people vote and no small group o f 50 to LOO organization votes carry much weight.

Mayor Bogle and the other Commissioners should remember th a t In a Commissioners’ election, th e majority of voters are un­organised and vote for those men they feel will give them the best government. There never has been a political organization in Lyndhurst yet that could control over 1 , 0 0 0 vote* in whatever manner they wanted them. Most o f the voters have to be con­vinced by common sense argu­ment before you get their man­date. ---------- — ............
