academic year.

This workshop discusses where to find high quality,

them. It also covers information on creative commons
licensing, attribution of open educational resources,
and accessibility considerations.

and how they enable re-use

Implementing Open Educational
Resources(Part Two)
This workshop shares best practices and strategies
for implementing the use and creation of OER in an
educational setting. The goal of this workshop is to
develop a practical understanding of how to adopt,
adapt, or create an Open Educational Resource for a
course or program.

The University of Texas at San Antonio is
inviting librarians, faculty, and administrators
with an interest in OER to attend a strategic
planning summit to consider OER at a
statewide level. The hope is to develop a set
of shared goals and strategies that can be
implemented across the state.

Local Initiatives
San Jacinto College has saved students 2.1m in
textbooks costs by encouraging OER adoption.
OpenStax out of Rice University is now being
utilized by 51% of colleges and universities.
Houston Community College is launching their Z-
degree program and giving faculty stipends to adopt
OER in the classroom.
University of Houston has recently hired an OER
librarian to assist faculty in the adoption and
adaption of open sourced materials.
