PRESIDENTL E T T E R F R O M T H E
Dear ACT I Members and Friends,
It is with great enthusiasm that we embark on another exci ng year of educa on, fundraising, and networking The Aging Community Team 1, or ACT I, is a nonpro t 501(c)3 and has raised over $64,000 in scholarships since 2001 This le er is an opportunity to showcase our members and their generosity Please bear in mind it would be impossible to list every member’s generosity and contribu ons However, in our monthly board mee ngs we are always touched by our members support
In recent years, California Nursing Educa onal Ins tute has inspired our board and members to set and reach for new goals In 2016 CNEI donated $2,000 and ini ated our rst ever membership challenge Our amazing members rose to the occasion and beat that challenge by several hundred dollars In 2017 CNEI doubled the challenge and donated $4,000 Again our members met this challenge
This year California Nurses Educa onal Ins tute named a new challenge by dona ng $3,000, plus matching any amount our members exceed This challenge and par cipa on is cri cal because it de nes what ACT I is: a team commi ed to serving our senior community through our own educa on and advancing the educa on of those commi ed to working in senior care industry and services
Along with this dona on and challenge, members like Mission Hills graciously donate their campus, me and talents to our mee ngs and annual event Members like Vista Cove and Rancho Mirage, whether it’s cooking prize-winning chili or decora ng paddles for the live auc on, have been there for over a decade
The Aging Community Team 1 is a networking success due to our long standing and new members A special thank you to members who have served as of cers, board members, and strong supporters: Cassie Ferrier, Margaret Rouley, Brian Billhartz, Marv Law, Joanne Demers, Caleo Bay, Windsor Court, Joslyn Senior Center, Mizell Senior Center, Braille Ins tute, Transi ons of the Desert, The Fountains at Carlo a, Four Palms Publishing, Custom Care Solu ons, and JFK We look forward to this years annual event Cinco De Mayo Live Auc on and Cook o Thank you for being a member of ACT I and as always we welcome new members
Sincerely,Mandy CalvanoPresident
Dear Valued Members and Community,
Since 1996 the Aging Community Team (ACT I) has been a 501(c)3providing scholarships to those entering into elder care professions andproviding education to those already serving the senior population. Ourorganization is committed to educating senior care professionals in theCoachella Valley. Each year our members partner with the community toraise money for scholarships. These scholarships stay in the CoachellaValley and help our community gain the much needed medicalprofessionals that serve our aging community. As of this year to date ACT Ihas provided over $91,000.00 in scholarships.
We are small but mighty and excited to keep growing. Our memberssupport our non-profit by attending monthly meetings where volunteerspeakers share resources, members network and share events, andfundraisers and donations are given. It is through a completely volunteerboard and officers that our membership goals, directory and fundraisinggoal are made and achieved. These talented individuals work tirelessly increating fun, successful events, and this year is no exception. We have an incoming set of dynamic new officers eager to reach new heights, starting with our main event, the annual fundraiser, Auction for ACT I on May 3rd, 2019 at Pirch in Rancho Mirage. This event is fun, exciting and the most important way we raise money for our scholarships in June. We look forward to the support of this bountiful community to reach our goal of $10,000 this year.
I have served as President for six years and this year I will be passing thetorch. With our new officers in place I know the incoming president will beable to do great things for the Aging Community Team.
ACT I is and will always be close to my heart as I have seen the success ithas given to so many students of all ages and the growth it has created fornew and existing businesses. Between networking, scholarships andeducation, the Aging Community Team is a community in itself with a strongbond for caring. To our members I thank you for your ongoing support, toour scholarship recipients I thank you for your hard work and commitmentto our Valley’s seniors, and to those who are not yet members I encourageyou to join our team.
Sincerely,Mandy Calvano
