Things can go wrong quickly if you’re not prepared. Especially in

the dark. And once you’ve left your vehicle, what you’ve got on you

is what you’ve got to get the job done. That’s w

hy savvy lawenforcem

ent professionals carry SureFire illumination tools—the

world’s finest. And m

ore than just one, because in their world, “One

is none, two is one, and three is key” is m

ore than a clever saying.It’s a credo that m

ay save their lives one day—and the basis ofSureFire’s Tactical Trinity system

for law enforcem

ent.

The Tactical Trinity holds that law enforcem

ent personnel need am

inimum

of three tactical lights to consistently and safely performthe

core tactical

functions of

properly identifying

threats,disorienting opponents, and illum

inating targets. These lights arem

ade up of (1) a compact prim

ary light in a quick-deploy holster, (2)an ultra-com

pact backup light, and (3) a weapon-m

ounted light with

ergonomic sw

itching that allows for effective operation w

ithoutsignificantly altering your grip on the w

eapon. All three need togenerate tactical output*—enough to tem

porarily overwhelm

thedark-adapted vision of an opponent. And all three should belightw

eight, rugged, and extremely reliable.

Most people do everything they can to stay out of harm

You insert yourself into potentially dangerous situations to get the job done. You relyupon your training, your fellow

officers, your instincts, and your equipment to get you

in and out of these situations safely. And SureFire has been a vital provider of thatcrucial equipm

experienced officers to design and build the finestillum

THE RIGHT LIGHT IS CRITICAL TO CONTROLLIN

G DARKNESS.

TRAININ

G IS CRITICAL TOCON

TROLLING YOUR LIGHT.

In high-stress, low-light situations, w

here fractions of a second count, you don’tw

ant to second guess what you’re looking at because your light doesn’t gener-

ate enough light. Or because dark spots, rings, or other imperfections in its beam

interfere with your ability to get a clear picture. You also w

ant every possible ad-vantage to tip the odds in your favor, and a blinding beam

of light that overwhelm

san opponent’s dark-adapted vision provides just that.

SureFire Tactical Trinity illumination tools provide brilliant, tactical beam

s thatallow

you to negotiate the darkness, identify threats, and temporarily blind and dis-

orient an aggressor. A blast of blinding light to the eyes can also often be enoughto defuse the situation and prevent any escalation of force. But should the use ofdeadly force becom

e necessary, the beams generated by our illum

ination toolsallow

you to properly identify your target and comply w

ith departmental policies

requiring positive threat identification and threat isolation. And ergonomic, tacti-

cally correct switching allow

s you to operate your SureFire illumination tool intu-

itively. No fumbling for a body-m

ounted switch, w

hich could cost valuable time.

No sacrificing a fundamentally sound grip on your w

eapon to operate your light.

Carrying the world’s finest illum

ination tools is essential in low-light conditions,

but it’s equally as important to m

aster using them. SureFire recom

mends profes-

sional low-light-tactics training, such as those taught at SureFire Institute*, as

well as continued practice and refinem

ent of proven low-light tactics and tech-

niques.

PRIMARY LIGHT

This is your go-to flashlight. It must be com

pact, powerful, and carried securely in a quick-deploy

holster so it’s always available and can be dispatched at a m

oment’s notice. This light should be

designed to be easily operated with a pistol, generate tactical light output (enough to tem

porarilyblind or disorient an aggressor’s vision in low

-light conditions), and feature a tactically correct tailcapsw

itch for intuitive, foolproof operation in high-stress conditions.

BACKUP LIGHTThis light’s purpose is just as the nam

e implies—to back up your prim

ary light should it fail or bedam

aged or lost. It should be ultra-compact, since space is lim

ited on your duty belt, under yourjacket, in your pocket, or w

herever else you choose to carry it, so long as it’s secure and easilyaccessible. It needs to generate tactical light levels because, w

hen pressed into service, it becomes

your primary light. It should also be pow

ered by the same pow

er source as your primary light, so you

don’t get bogged down carrying m

ultiple types of batteries.

WEAPON

LIGHTA w

eapon-mounted light allow

s you to navigate, identify and assess threats, overwhelm

a threat’sdark-adapted vision, and properly illum

inate your target—with your w

eapon fully deployed, at theready, and w

hile maintaining a fundam

entally sound shooting grip on the weapon. W

hile a handgunW

eaponLight may not be an option in all departm

ents, it’s a must-have on long guns, w

hich can bedifficult to m

aneuver and operate in conjunction with a handheld flashlight.

You need intense, tactical light to do your job effectively, because the stakes can be life or death. SureFirebelieves that having three separate rugged, extrem

ely reliable illumination tools at your disposal is critical

to your success and safety, as well as the safety of those around you. That’s w

hy we’ve developed the Tactical

Trinity for Law Enforcem

ent, which consists of three unique elem

ents:

4

Page 7: SureFire Tactical. 2012

A pow

erful tactical

light that’s

long running,

virtuallyindestructible, and sits in a quick-deploy tactical holster soit’s secure yet readily available. M

ust feature tactically correcttailcap sw

itching and be suitable for pairing with a handgun.

A powerful tactical light that’s m

ore compact than your prim

ary lightand can be placed in a pocket or on a duty belt and accessed quicklyw

hen needed. Dual-output, with a low

er output and extendedruntim

e for general use, is a plus, as is being powered by the sam

etype of batteries as your prim

ary light.

A tactical light mounted directly to a handgun or long gun, w

ith ergonomic

switching that allow

s for easy operation of the light and weapon w

ith nosacrifice in a fundam

entally sound grip on the weapon. It’s im

perativethat the beam

be flawless and pow

erful, because there’s no room for

error in properly identifying and engaging threats once your weapon has

been deployed.

* SureFire defines tactical output as 50 lumens or greater, w

hich is typically enough light to tem

porarily overwhelm

the dark-adapted vision of an opponent.

Keeping things simple in high-stress situations is crucial, and the single-output 6PX

SureFire’s V85A Holster was developed for law

There have been numerous reported incidences of counterfeit and/or low
