    3. Reference Standards

The reference surface water and wastewater standards are established in the Thailand surface

water and wastewater standard regulations as follows:

    1) Regulation of Royal Irrigation Department No.883/2532 : Protection and revision of

discharge which low quality into irrigation stream and other connected runoff in the

area of irrigation project, December 19, 1989.

    2) Notification of the National Environmental Comittee, Issue No.8 (2537) Surface water

    quality standards regulation.

    3) Notification of Ministry of National resource and environment, Discharge water from

municipal wastewater treatment system quality standards regulation (2553).

    4. Results of Surface water and Wastewater Quality Monitoring

Surface water and wastewater quality monitoring was conducted at 5 stations in

Nakornratchasima, Thailand on 14th March 2014. The details of stations and sample test results

    are shown in Table 5.1-1.

Effluent point of Municipal wastewater treatment system

This station was taken wastewater sample for 3 times a day. The temperature were

in the range of 27.9-29.0 degree celcius, pH were in the range of 8.38-8.41, Suspended solids were in the

range of 1.0-8.0 mg/l, Dissolved oxygen were in the range of 4.8-6.6 mg/l, BOD were in the range of 34.0-

50.0 mg/l, COD were in the range of 80.0-98.0 mg/l, Phosphate were in the range of 0.96-1.21 mg/l, Nitrate

were in the range of 4.53-5.96 mg/l, Nitrite were in the range of less than 0.02-2.09 mg/l, Ammonia-

Bacteria were in the range of 490-2,300 MPN/100ml and Fecal Coliform Bacteria were in the range of 170-

    1,300 MPN/100ml.

Discharge point into Main irrigation stream

This station was taken wastewater sample for 3 times a day. The temperature were

in the range of 28.6-31.4 degree celcius, pH were in the range of 7.99-8.21, Suspended solids were in the

range of 7.0-13.0 mg/l, Dissolved oxygen were in the range of 1.3-8.3 mg/l, BOD were in the range of 15.0-

23.0 mg/l, COD were in the range of 69.0-93.0 mg/l, Phosphate were in the range of 0.23-2.64 mg/l, Nitrate

were in the range of 0.37-0.97 mg/l, Nitrite were in the range of less than 0.02-0.12 mg/l, Ammonia-

Nitrogen were in the range of 7.08-23.00 mg/l, TKN were in the range of 11.4-35.3 mg/l, Total Coliform

Bacteria and Fecal Coliform Bacteria were exceed the standards all 3 times and they were in very high value

    form the standards.

Main irrigation stream run into Lamtakong river

This station was taken wastewater sample for 3 times a day. The temperature were

in the range of 28.2-32.2 degree celcius, pH were in the range of 8.14-8.78, Suspended solids were in the

range of 5.0-11.0 mg/l, Dissolved oxygen were in the range of 2.2-7.5 mg/l, BOD were in the range of 14.0-

19.0 mg/l, COD were in the range of 77.0-89.0 mg/l, Phosphate were in the range of 0.28-1.04 mg/l, Nitrate

were in the range of 2.39-5.15 mg/l, Nitrite were in the range of less than 0.45-1.47 mg/l, Ammonia-

Nitrogen were in the range of less than 0.02-19.28 mg/l, TKN were in the range of 1.71-20.0 mg/l, Total

Coliform Bacteria and Fecal Coliform Bacteria were exceed the standards all 3 times and they were in very

    high value form the standards.

When comparing the results of all 5 stations with the standards, it was found that

most the results was complied with the standards except in some parameters such as DO, BOD, Nitrate,

Ammonia-Nitrogen and TKN which exceed some standards (depend on classification of water sample

source). Total Coliform Bacteria and Fecal Coliform Bacteria which exceed all standards except at 3rd

pond at the entrance of AS plant and Effluent point of Municipal wastewater treatment system.
