Ancillary Research Survey

Answers

Page 2: Survey answers

The age group which took this survey was between 16 and 20 which is my demographic which allows me to take from the answers a key representation of what my demographic/ audience look for in albums

Page 3: Survey answers

The gender was majority female however the survey gives me a answer within range of what both genders like in terms of the ancillary texts

Page 4: Survey answers

When looking at a promotional poster something which is surprising is how significant the image is to the audience, only 2 of the answers suggested the colour and font and the release date information is not deemed as important

Page 5: Survey answers

The majority of answers preferred the second album of Lana Del Rey rather than the abstract cover by London Grammar this is something to note when creating my own work

Page 6: Survey answers

Only three people liked the London Grammar album cover and the reason behind this seems to be the image makes the album sell better as it shoes the artist and the image itself appeals as you don’t have to read the name of the artists

The answer from this question gave me an idea that promotional posters are still evident even during the influx of the internet

Page 8: Survey answers

I feel from the answers it is a mix response but you still see promotional posters on the streets but you also see them much more on social media account and on TV/ radio

Conclusion:

Consequently from these seven brief questions it is clear to see that audiences prefer albums with an image of the artist rather than an abstract image as it allows the audience to know the artist without reading the name on the album. Also people prefer photos on the promotional posters as that is what they look for, therefore I need to make sure I conform to audiences expectations to ensure my product is successful.
