What you can do now to prepare
Use Kinnsers dashboards to get asses the scope of outstanding
documentation
Ensure that your agency is using the Kinnser flags accurately
DC patient charts need review
Ensure personnel file licensures are up to date
Use key reports in Reports/Admin section to check for areas of
vulnerability
Consider a mock survey, using auditors who know Kinnser
Use the remote capabilities to ensure changes are made

How to use Kinnser during
survey
Pulling an unduplicated census
Click on Go To
Patient ManagerorReports/Admin
Click Create Patient Roster
Scroll down the patient roster form
Select option no.3 and enter the date range that you need
Click Create Roster
Print roster for surveyor

How to use Kinnser during
survey
Printing a patient chart
Click on Go To
Patient Manager
Click on the first letter of the
last name to open the chart
Go to the episode requested
and click on Tools then Print Chart
Repeat process until all charts requested have been printed

Limit your exposure
Delegate someone in the agency to remove the yellow stickies if
you feel thats necessary (some agencies leave them on as
training opportunities for nursing staff on documentation)
Have your internal auditor or consultant look for high profile
patients
Call in outstanding notes from field staff
Send a K-mail informing staff that agency is under survey

What to do if your surveyor
wants a log in
You might offer to print the charts, but the surveyor can request
a log in
Create a user name and password for the surveyor
Recommended roles to give surveyor:
Clinical Review and Clinician
Set up access hours for thesurveyor underEdit Profile
Inactivate User promptly after the exit interview
