Providing Information1. FREE Access to Databases

The library offers free access to a vast wealth of online resources to help find information.  Many of these research tools contain searchable collections of full text articles from reference books, newspapers, journals, and magazines.  Some research tools deliver more unique content, like company profiles, census records, and downloadable audio books.

IMAGININGthe Future

The Newburg branch is one of Louisville’s most environmentally friendly buildings.

1. Much of the furniture and flooring are made of recycled materials.2. It operates on an advanced sensor control lighting system to save energy.3. The roof catches rain and uses it for watering the rain garden instead of sending it to sewer systems.4. Numerous temperature and water control systems all operate to save energy.

The Newburg Library contains 18 touch screen computers for adults, 6 for teens and 5 for children.

This type of advanced computer access is only available at the Newburg branch.

Page 19: Susan Irving from Louisville Library for Ignite502

Handheld PCs with wireless access allow

Newburg staff to assist patrons from the floor,

eliminating the need for frequent trips back to

the reference desk.

RFID enabled self checkout machines provide the public

with an easy way to get their materials fast. They also

provide staff with more time to assist patrons with

computer aid and reference assistance.
