SUMMER CONCERT AT THE BRIGHTON FRINGE FESTIVALSt. Bartholomew’s Church, May 2014
The choir acquitted themselves very well, particularly in Mozart’s beautiful motet ‘Ave Verum Corpus’ (1791) which sounded most ethereal and exquisitely phrased. Marilyn Dennis The Sussex Chorus under Alan Vincent continues to perform to a high standard, maintaining the choral society tradition which remains the life-blood of our serious, communal music-making. Simon Austin
MESSIAH St Bartholomew’s Church, April 2014
In the first concert with new Music Director and Conductor Alan Vincent, Sussex Chorus turned to the perennial favourite, Händel’s Messiah, to show off its talents. Vincent’s direction resulted in a performance of warmth and skill from all concerned, with the lively tempi achieved with aplomb throughout the piece. The well prepared choir provided a strong backbone to the evening, with good diction, intonation and timing, with “All we like sheep” specifically demonstrating the particular strength of the tenors and basses, and the quality of voices across the board.
