This presentation outlines an option for the initiation of a new
sustainable practice to be used by the City of Kelowna’s Design &
Construction Services Department

Example
waterless urinals are easy to implement have no capital cost increase over
conventional urinals, and the payback - in terms of reduced inputs and
outputs - is immediate.
photo voltaics are currently more difficult to implement, require more
rigorous coordination with other systems, are more expensive than
conventional systems and thus require longer payback

Rainwater harvesting for irrigation use is relatively cheap and easy to install
and is a simpler system to maintain (catchment, storage, distribution)
VS
Rainwater harvesting for potable use requires a more complex system
(catchment, storage, treatment, distribution) cost more per unit of water and
is more difficult to maintain

sustainable design. Weight this approach in evaluation of qualifications/proposals
