All new IHS Markit fitouts strive to be designed toBREEAM/LEED-certified standards. This meansthat everything from the materials used to theoverall design of the space is carefully consideredin terms of its impact on the environment. IHSMarkit seeks to obtain LEED Silver certification (orequivalent in BREEAM) by the USGBC on all newprojects. Highlights:

Global - Besides taking steps to reduce energy usage and increasingenergy efficiency in these operations, our year-to-year strategy is toadvance carbon neutrality and achieve zero emissions, with the initialfocus on scope 1 and 2 emissions and scope 3 emissions from airtravel:
RE100: signed on to RE100 and committed to sourcing 100percent of its electricity from renewable energy by 2020. By joiningthe RE100, IHS Markit is now part of the “We MeanBusiness” coalition of more than 700 companies and investorsdedicated to Climate action. See our press release.
Carbon offsets: used our Environmental Registry to purchase andretired 63,758 carbon offsets to offset our 2017 and 2018 footprintsassociated with global offices and business air travel. We plan to do the same for our 2019 footprint. Seemore detail here.

Dublin, Ireland (2019) - As part of our commitment toincorporate sustainable design principles in 33% of our fitoutprojects, the Dublin office replaced 90 standard light fittingswith new LED ceiling panels, averaging 2,800 kWh and €670in savings per month. The LEDs, with a 5-year warranty, willalso reduce maintenance time and costs.
Zero waste to landfillSDG: 12 - Responsible consumption and production, 15 - Life on land
Tetbury, United Kingdom (2015-present) - With the removal ofpersonal trash bins and 60% reduction in landfill waste generated, theTetbury office took the additional step of having the remainder landfilltrash incinerated. This reduces the amount of landfill waste andcarbon emissions from landfill waste while providing electricity to thenational grid.

Partnership with Mastercard to launch the Priceless Planet CoalitionSDG: 13 - Climate action, 15 - Life on land
Global (2020) - IHS Markit partnered with Mastercard inlaunching the Priceless Planet Coalition to engage bothcustomers and corporations in sustainability and climate action.Along with other founding partners including Citibank, SantanderUK and American Airlines, the Coalition commits to planting 100million trees in the next 5 years. One early Coalition initiative willaward consumers with the planting of trees for using publictransportion. Another initiative allows Mastercard's corporatecard customers to contribute to the Coalition's forest initiatives.
For IHS Markit, use of our corporate credit card will go towardsforest initiatives in lieu of receiving standard loyalty and reward points. IHS Markit Chairman and CEO LanceUggla states, "The effects of climate change are very real, and companies have a responsibility to lead byexample to protect our planet. Trees play an important part in reaching the Paris Climate Accord and workingwith others we can have a bigger impact in achieving a more sustainable future. I’m proud that we can lead byexample as the first corporation to participate."
Mystic River cleanupSDG: 14 - Life Below water
Boston, MA (2015-present) - The Boston participated in a jointvolunteering and summer social event with a sustainabilitytheme. Along with a $3,000 donation, more than 70 IHS Markitemployees, using 328 volunteering hours, physically removedtons of water chestnuts from the Mystic River, improving itsecological quality and overall aesthetic (The water chestnut is aninvasive species complicating native Mystic River marine life).Partnering with the Mystic River Watershed Association(MyRWA) IHS Markit employees worked from canoes and hand-pulled the chestnuts from the river. Geneva and Zurich, Switzerland (2017-present) - IHS Markitemployees, in action towards climate change and sustainablecommuting, formed 5 teams to bike to work during the month ofJune. 20 employees from the Geneva and and Zurich officesparticipated and biked more than 2,400 miles - saving almostthree-quarters of a metric ton of CO2 equivalent.

Global (2012-present) - As part of our sustainability policy, IHSMarkit encourages the reduction of waste and the use of recycling.This includes hosting office e-waste drives for employees & buildingoccupants. Since 2012, we have diverted more than 20 metric tonsof electronic waste in this way.
We also donate and repurpose older technology equipment as aprimary step in the end-of-e-waste lifecycle; and when this is notpossible, we promote proper e-waste disposal & avoiding landfilldisposal. Since 2012, we have donated more than 800 pieces of ITequipment (laptops, monitors, printers) to charity. Recipients include:Bala Ustav (India), Centre for Support and Social Integration (Brazil),Dubai Center for Special Needs (United Arab Emirates), FundacjaNasza Ziemia (Poland), Houston Independent School District(United States), Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (UnitedStates), One Billion Literates Foundation (India), Red Cross(France), and Shining India (India).

The Carbon XPrize competitionSDG: 12 - Responsible consumption and production, 13 - Climate action
Houston, TX (2017-present) - Using our volunteer benefit, RussellHeinen, a senior director and energy and chemicals expert at IHS Markit,volunteers as a judge for the Carbon XPrize competition. The goal of thecompetition is to develop breakthrough technologies that will convert CO2emissions from power plants and industrial facilities into useful products,such as building materials or alternative fuels. XPrize Foundation callsitself an innovation engine and a catalyst for the benefit of humanity. Thegoal of the US$ 20 million global XPrize competition is to catalyze not justbreakthrough innovation, but also the market opportunities that will allowthose breakthroughs to succeed.

Southfield, MI (2015-present) - IHS Markit has been actively involvedin a business education relationship with Loyola High School in Detroit,Michigan. In addition to employing high school students as internswithin various teams in their Southfield office, the relationship hasgrown to include a curriculum on information technology with acombination of lecture and hands-on opportunities for students.
Joseph Kidder, director of the work experience program at Loyola, saidabout the program, “Students who are interested in the informationtechnology field have had a chance to gain greater insight into the fieldthrough presentations and practical experiences. The class has openedup the students to greater possibilities and opportunities for continuededucation, a career path and potential income. IHS Markit Global Shave with St. Baldrick’sSDG: 3 - Good health and well-being
Global (2007-present) - The St. Baldrick's Foundation is theworld’s largest volunteer-powered organization for childhoodcancer. Donations raised by St. Baldrick’s fundraisers have madeit possible to support the development of childhood cancertreatments.
The foundation is known for its signature head-shaving eventswhere volunteers shave their heads to raise funds for the mostpromising childhood cancer research. Funds raised aredistributed throughout the year in the form of research grants.The St. Baldrick’s Foundation has funded 1541 grants in 28countries to date, more than any other private foundation.
This is our largest campaign fundraiser of the year with IHSMarkit matching $100K to the amount raised by our employees.IHS Markit has partnered with St. Baldrick’s for twelve yearsraising a total of $4,086,584! Check out the 2018 Global ShaveEvent on YouTube.

A Leg To Stand On (ALTSO)SDG: 1 - No poverty, 3 - Good health and well-being
New York, NY (2019) - 30 IHS Markit employees participated in aSweat for ALTSO pickleball tournament to raise $25,747 for free,life-changing mobility solutions to over 100 CoolKids in need. Tenteams of 4-6 players competed to raise money while activelyleveraging and reflecting on the difference mobility makes in theirown lives. The event engaged employees from differentdepartments within IHS Markit to meet - many for the first time - andconnect over their shared humanitarian values and IHS Markit'scommitment to social responsibility.
A Leg To Stand On (ALTSO) is a NYC-based non-profit organization that provides free Joshi prosthetic limbs,appropriately fitted wheelchairs, and customized orthotic devices to children with traumatic or congenital limbdisabilities in developing countries whose families could otherwise never afford care. Since 2002, ALTSO hastreated more than 18,500 CoolKids, giving them mobility and all the opportunities that it offers includingeducation, future employment, and the chance to live self-sufficiently.

Dallas, TX (2017-present) - 229 IHS Markit employees, spouses andcontractors participated in 22 events over an 8-week period in the2017 Richardson Corporate Challenge which benefits the SpecialOlympics of Texas. In 2019, we created global heads for our affinity groups to better coordinate activities and drive best practice,allowing the smaller chapters to leverage the larger networks when needed.
Return to work programSDG: 5 - Gender equality, 8 - Decent work and economic growth
New York, NY (2019) - Working with the non-profit Path Forward, welaunched a Return to Work pilot program in New York to reintegratereturning professionals back into the workforce after an extended absencefor caregiving purposes.
The pilot offers four months of paid employment for professionals comingback to the workforce. In 2019, we extended full time offers to the fivewomen who entered the program.

Global (2017-present) - IHS Markit participated in theHeForShe campaign as part of our commitment to genderdiversity and equality in the workplace. In our pilot rollout in2017, the London office came up with five key actions uniqueto the office that every employee can adopt and implement toimprove gender equality. As a HeForShe ambassador, anemployee commits to vocally and proactively uphold thesepledges. In 2018, we launched programs in London andBangalore with emerging programs in our Englewood,Coulsdon, New York and Paris offices.
In 2019, we focused on removing bias from our processesand policies by:
Developing and rolling out our ‘values, culture andunconscious bias’ training module globally as part of our manager bootcamp series, with approximately1,000 managers attending

Global (2017-present) - Pride@IHSMarkit is a network of global groupsopen to all employees with the aim to create a culture and a company thatthat is welcoming and inclusive for LGBTQ/LGBT+ employees. Theirremit, both internal and external, is to engage with partner networks,clients and our communities.

Launched a company-wide LGBT+ Ally program. An ally can beanyone who supports the LGBT+ community. We have over 300allies in London alone
Partnered with LGBT+ industry networks such as the IntertechLGBT+ Diversity Forum, Interbank LGBT Forum and the InterchangeLGBT
Regularly conduct global lunch & learn sessions for employeesaround LGBT+
Scored 100% on the 2019 and 2020 Corporate Equality Index criteriabased on our corporate practices with respect workforce protections,inclusive benefits, inclusive culture and responsible citizenship
