Qatar Sustainability Assessment System
� The primary objective of QSAS is to create a sustainable built environment that minimizes ecological impact while addressing specific regional needs and the environment of Qatar.
� Lusail City was the first development in Qatar where QSAS was applied in June 2010.
� All Concept Design applications for new development in Lusail City are subject to QSAS certification requirements.
� The minimum star rating for private development is 2 stars

Sustainable Design Objectives
The design guideline encourages:
• Creation of character by reinforcing distinctive patterns of sustainable development and culture diversity and choice through a mix of compatible developments.
• Continuity of street frontages and where possible introduce pedestrian weather protection.
• Use of external glass walling is restricted to maximum 50% of the total façade.
• Provision of screens and horizontal / vertical protection for larger expanses of glazing.
• Provision of windows in deeper recesses to reduce solar glare attractive and safe.
• Cladding systems with natural stone as the primary material.
• Orientation should Consider internal environmental quality, such as ventilation
and lighting.
