By introducing a variable intake system and enhanced VVT system, air intake is optimally controlled to suit driving conditions, with higher cylinder charging and intake and exhaust effi ciency. The specially designed six-speed manual transmission uses the new engine’s higher output to full advantage. The greater number of gears allows for better acceleration, while a higher top-gear ratio improves fuel economy. The new CVT auto system, with a low and high range auxiliary gearbox, allows a wide range of gear ratios, which promotes acceleration and fuel economy. The system utilises a shift paddle design as used in F1™ racing with seven-gear manual mode to enable the choice of an exciting sporty drive or a more relaxed drive. By closely co-ordinating with the engine, the CVT system promotes shift response with respect to the accelerator pedal and shift paddles for a sportier feeling while accelerating.

Hot to handle More high tensile steel has been incorporated into the body of the new Swift Sport making it lighter, but highly rigid, for improved response. Remarkably, the new Swift Sport carries more equipment, but is 30kg lighter than the previous model. This, combined with the higher engine output, has enhanced the power-to-weight ratio to 10.6kg/kW, which adds to the driving excitement of the Swift Sport.

Improved front suspensionThe enhanced front suspension design achieves better handling response through higher mounting rigidity and larger front wheel bearings. This means a better Yaw response which indicates the speed the car responds to steering inputs.

Exclusively designed rear suspension Specifically designed for the Swift Sport, the rear suspension design controls the alignment of the rear wheels more precisely during cornering manoeuvres. In fact, the wheels track the drivers steering input 20% more precisely than the previous model, which has resulted in outstanding cornering stability – even at high speeds. The use of Monroe® shock absorbers, renowned for their performance during sportier driving, adds to the exceptional handling experience of the Swift Sport.

Stronger springs means less roll The coil damper springs of the new Swift Sport have a 15% firmer spring rate at the front and 30% at the rear. These significantly stronger damper springs mean the roll angles during cornering are 15% smaller than the previous model, ensuring high speed cornering stability for added driving confidence.
