President’s Column It was marvelous to see so many attend the September social and the cream can dinner

was so fitting for fall, one starts to get hungry

for some of those comfort meals. It was

wonderful that the Eagles agreed to make that

type of meal for us and we thank them for it.

Sverdrup attended the Missouri River

International Festival at the YMCA on

September 15th, it was exciting to see all the different cultures that participated in the

event. There was dancing, food samples from different cultures, items to

purchase and programs to take in. If you didn’t make it this year, I

encourage you to attend next year, we all need to learn about each

other.

Going with the theme of the variety cultures in the area, the word is out

that Bismarck will be celebrating its 150th birthday in 2022 by promoting

and highlighting the different cultures with all kinds of activities and programs. Sverdrup, of course, is looking at participating in this event in

whatever way we can, so when asked to help out, I’m hoping you will

answer with a good strong “Ja, you betcha”!

I want to thank those that have been repairing and painting the stabbur,

it was much needed. We applaud those members that have taken the

time to care for our park and the two stabbur. Thank You!

Remember the social next month is a week early on October 11th.

Tusen Takk!

Susan

Tubfrim

For 90 years Norway has been collecting used stamps and phone cards. At first it was to help children with tuberculosis and then later expanding

its program to help hundreds of handicapped children, as well as

supporting tuberculosis research The Sons of Norway has been saving

and sending stamps to Norway for over 60 years to help in this endeavor. To be a part of this effort, please bring your used stamps to a

lodge meeting. Erling Olson is our Tubfrim Chair and he will be happy to

accept stamps from you. Trim the

stamps to 1/4 inch around the

stamp to preserve the quality of the stamp. They can come from any

country in the world and are

purchased by stamp collectors.
