Share those special memories with CelebrationsCelebrations features

weddings, engagements, anniversaries, and other happy news, such as birthdays, reunions, and four- or five-generation photos.

As a special way to pre-serve these memorable occasions, quarter-, half- or full-page announce-ments can be purchased.

Paid announcements are determined by word count: no more than 125 words for a quarter page, no more than 250 words for a half page, and up to 340 words for a full page. Those paying for announcements will have the opportunity to proof them before publication.

Customers will be called when the announcement is ready to be proofed. At that time, any corrections or additions can be made as needed at SVM’s Dixon and Sterling offices. For convenience, proofs will be emailed without calls whenever possible.

Photos may be submit-ted in color or black and white, and in any size. Emailed photos should

be in JPEG format with a resolution of 200 and a width of at least 5 inch-es for best quality. All announcements can be printed without photos if desired.

Celebration forms are available at the Telegraph and Daily Gazette clas-sified departments or by email.

Sauk Val ley Media is not responsible for errors due to unreadable information. A daytime phone number and email address (if available) are requested to help to insure accuracy.

Weddings are available in basic (free) form (one photo of the couple), quarter-page paid (one photo), half-page paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos).

The wedding form should be returned preferably within 2 to 4 months after the wedding date.

Engagements are avail-able in basic (free) form (one photo of the cou-ple), two styles of quar-

ter-page paid (one photo only), half-page paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos).

Anniversary announce-ments are available in the basic (free) form (one current photo, no older than 5 years), quarter-page paid (one or two photos), half-page paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos).

Announcements begin-ning with the 25th anni-versary, and then in 5-year increments up to 60 years, can be at no charge.

Other increments will require a paid announce-ment. Anniversaries of 70 years and more are at no charge in a paid format; the announcement size will be determined by the editor.

After 60th-year anniver-saries, SVM will publish free announcements, without special wording, without the 5-year incre-ment restriction.

Birthday announce-ments for area seniors 80 years of age and older can

be at no charge without special wording. There is a charge for those young-er than 80.

The basic (free) form (one current photo), quarter-page paid (one or two photos), half-page paid (two photos), and full-page paid (up to four photos) are available.

For 100th and older birthdays, SVM will pub-lish free announcements in a paid format; the announcement size will be determined by the edi-tor.

Reunions are for area residents who are gather-ing, or have gathered, for a family or class reunion.

Reunion items will be edited due to space limi-tations, and lists of all those attending are not available in the free for-mat.

Photos also are not available for a free announcement, but can be used in any of the paid announcements. If a large group photo is submitted, only one can be used in the quarter-page format, one photo

is recommended in the half-page format, and up to four normally can be used in the full-page format. Large group photos with long lists of names may require at least a half-page paid announcement.

Note: A group photo for a class reunion only can be submitted at no charge for the Scrapbook page of SV Weekend by email to [email protected] or in person.

For publication in Cel-ebrations, class reunions of 70 years and more will be available in the quarter-page format at no charge, with a photo allowed.

Five-generation and four-generation photos with names, relation-ships, and places of resi-dence of those pictured may be submitted for publication.

Multiple photos from the same submitter will need to be on a paid basis.

Generation announce-ments are, of course, available on a paid (cus-

tom) basis in quarter-page (one photo), half-page (two photos), and full-page (up to four pho-tos) form.

O t h e r c e l e b r a t i o n s include retirements, pro-motions, awards, honors, baptisms, confirmations, baby’s arrival (able to contain more informa-tion than standard birth announcements, along with a photo), and other occasions.

Customers may pur-chase a quarter-page (one photo – two if space allows), half-page, (up to two photos) or full-page (up to four photos) paid announcement in Cel-ebrations on a custom basis.

For more information regarding Celebrations, contact Andrea Mills at 815-284-2222, ext. 5575, or 815-625-3600, ext. 5575, email [email protected] or call the classified department at either number. Email [email protected] to submit Celebra-tions announcements or for information.

BY LISA BROWNSt. Louis Post-Dispatch

ST. LOUIS – Wedding and holiday planners take note: A historic St. Louis home that has hosted U.S. presi-dents, St. Louis Cardinals players, movie stars, and beer industry executives is the region’s newest party venue.

Many weddings of Busch family members and friends have taken place at the Busch family “Big House” estate in south St. Louis County, next to Grant’s Farm. Brewery magnate August A. Busch Sr., son of Anheuser-

Busch’s founder, acquired the land in 1903.

Now the property is avail-able to book for the first time to those without a connection to the Busch family.

Busch family members who own the French Reviv-al-style mansion, at 10501 Gravois Road, have opened it up to the public to rent for weddings and other events.

A website for the venture, buschfamilyestate.com, that launched recently lists available rental pack-ages, including one that provides access to the

32,000-square-foot man-sion. The website states the Big House, which has 26 rooms and 14 bathrooms, can accommodate 75 guests, who will have use of the inside of the house and patio. Additionally, house staff will give guests private tours of the first floor of the mansion, which was built in 1913.

Renting the lawn or tennis courts for a wed-ding also are among the options. The cost for using the space is available only upon request, with venue pricing starting at $5,000.

The property, owned by

a trust held by six children of brewery magnate August A. “Gussie” Busch Jr. and Trudy Busch, is unoccu-pied, but is still used for entertaining and family events.

In 1954, the Busch family opened Grant’s Farm next to the estate to the public for free tours. Anheuser-Busch InBev operates the Grant’s Farm animal pre-serve and leases the Grant’s Farm property from the Busch family.

Grant’s Farm is home to the Budweiser Clydesdale stables and hundreds of other animals, including

llamas and zebras.Last month, A-B, the U.S.

unit of A-B InBev, part-nered with the Busch fam-ily to begin offering for the first time $25 1-hour walk-ing tours of the 22-acre Busch family estate next to Grant’s Farm.

Julia Mize, A-B’s vice president of experiential marketing, said the com-pany may offer the walking tours again in 2015.

On a tour of the Busch estate grounds recently, tour guides Dale Lutz and Carolyn Larson said the estate hosted hun-dreds of celebrities and

sports stars over the past century, including actors John Wayne and Yul Bryn-ner and former Cardinals greats Stan Musial and Bob Gibson.

A few years ago, singers Tim McGraw and Faith Hill were guests at the estate, Lutz said.

Offering the property as an event space has elicited interest. “We’re already booked up several months in advance,” David Isser-man, a consultant working with the Busch family, said in an email.
