TheImpact
More than loss of area is involved• The richest portion of UF's finest
upland preservation area will be destroyed.
29-inch DBH
hickory
24-inch DBH
longleaf pine
23- and 25-inch DBH
live oaks
Four of the forty-nine trees in the right-of-way that are 18 inches or more in diameter
More than loss of area is involved• The richest portion of UF's finest
upland preservation area will be destroyed.• 48 acres of wildlife habitat will be fragmented• Wildlife will need to cross 24th Ave. to reach
permanent water
More than loss of area is involved• NATL, a valuable, irreplaceable academic
resource, will be irreversibly degraded by being made less diverse, less secure, and much noisier.
--And all for a road that is in the traffic plan only because it will help double the retail space in the Butler Plaza area.
“In the end, our society will be defined not onlyby what we create, but what we refuse to destroy.”
