There is a great deal of creative and technical innovation in the use of timber in buildings from the construction of striking modern timber buildings to the manufacture and use of new timber construction materials and products that can reduce build times while increasing the sustainability of the finished structures.

The conference will start with a series of presentations from the people behind some of Europe’s most stunning timber buildings, demonstrating how the use of timber in buildings is evolving in ways that are both very exciting and highly efficient.

It will finish with an interactive session focusing on a vision for the future for timber use in the region and further afield, kicked-off by an inspiring and thought-provoking presentation by acclaimed award-winning designer Wayne Hemingway. This session will allow delegates to engage with some of the day’s speakers and put forward their own experiences of the challenges and solutions to using more timber in building.

In between delegates will be able to choose from a wide selection of CPD seminars covering issues such as design, procurement and sourcing, affordable housing, the latest engineered timber products, sustainability and zero carbon buildings and the quality and quantity of timber available in the South West.

The conference will also include a range of exhibitors, covering timber framing, wood energy, timber flooring, doors and windows, timber cladding and shingles, engineered timber products such as glulam and SIPS, timber

producers and millers, architects and designers and sustainable construction, as well as an exhibition of the twelve most inspirational timber buildings in Europe.

This conference will both inspire and inform delegates – clearly showing how timber can be used to deliver modern buildings that are strikingly beautiful in appearance and highly efficient in performance.

If you’re involved in designing, specifying, constructing or refurbishing buildings, this conference is not to be missed.

This conference will be of interest to:• Architectsanddesigners• QuantitySurveyorsandspecifiers• BuildersandDevelopers• Clientsandcommissioners• PoliticiansandCouncillors• Localauthorityofficers• Structuralengineersandotherbuildingprofessionals• Housingenablers

There is a growing interest in increasing the use of timber in new built structures. Timber’s low embodied energy and the fact it is a renewable resource are important benefits in a world where sustainability and carbon emissions are more important by the day. What’s more, wood also looks, smells and feels good.
