Swarming Termites
Swarming Ants
They’re a homeowner’s worst nightmare and 99% of the time they are discovered after damage has already taken place. The termites doing all the damage are hidden but once a year they show
themselves as thy fly out if their established colony in search of starting a new one.
Let us help you ID what you find, and cross your fingers that we can inform you that they are actually flying ants, as we both smile in relief.
Unfortunately, your homeowners insurance doesn’t cover the damage they do.
Differences Between Swarming Termites & Ants
Straight Antennae
Thick waist, like a cigar
Wings the same size, form a “U” when
closed
Bent Antennae
Narrow waist, segmented body
Front wings longer, form a “V” when
closed
• First obvious sign is swarming termites heavily coming out one location.
• Walk down into unfinished basement, look around. Mud tubes on the wall, and rotting wood on the beams can be noticeable.
