Exponential Functions

• The independent variable is the exponent (or power in the equation

• A line that that a function approaches but never reaches.

Graph f(x) = 4(2)-x + 2

Where is the asymptote? F(x) = 2

Bases vs Negative Exponents

• If a (the base) > 1 && exponent is positive,then the graph increases (exponential growth)f(x) = 3 (4)x
