CHRISTOPHER BOND (Adaptor), anactor/director/writer, wrote the play SweeneyTodd for the Stoke-on-Trent ExperimentalTheatre. He took Brecht’s Man Is Man,renamed it Man Eats Man and applied it tothe public domain one-act folk play,Sweeney Todd, by George Dibdin Pitt,which was itself taken from the story “TheString of Pearls: A Romance” published inPenny Dreadful, the Victorian gossip maga-zine.
