HUGH WHEELER (Book) won TonyAwards for Candide, A Little Night Musicand Sweeney Todd. He is the author of theplays Big Fish, Little Fish; Look, We’veCome Through; We Have Always Lived inthe Castle; and additional material for Pacif-ic Overtures. His screenplays include Trav-els With My Aunt, Something for Everyone,A Little Night Music and Nijinsky. He alsowrote 30 mysteries under the pseudonymsPatrick Quentin and Q. Patrick. He has writ-ten such operas as Kurt Weill’s Silverlake,Mozart’s Impressario and the opera versionsof Candide and Sweeney Todd.

CHRISTOPHER BOND (Adaptor), anactor/director/writer, wrote the play SweeneyTodd for the Stoke-on-Trent ExperimentalTheatre. He took Brecht’s Man Is Man,renamed it Man Eats Man and applied it tothe public domain one-act folk play,Sweeney Todd, by George Dibdin Pitt,which was itself taken from the story “TheString of Pearls: A Romance” published inPenny Dreadful, the Victorian gossip maga-zine. In this new approach to the classics,Chris also created the role of Tobias forhimself. Later Chris worked with EverymanTheatre (Liverpool) where he wrote/directedDownright Hooligan, Judge Jeffreys, UnderNew Management and was artistic directorof Half Moon Theatre (London) where hedirected Sweeney Todd and Trafford Tanzy.His recent production of Alice in the Under-ground for Chicken Shed, a company of dis-abled actors, toured all major UK theatres.
