TTXRoad Number TBOX 661307

This 60’ rib side double-plug door high-cube boxcar is bright pink with black lettering and runs on Barber Roller Bearing trucks. Built by National Steel Car in 2011 for Railbox, a TTX subsidiary, these 286,000-pound capacity cars can be found in trains hauling general freight all across North America. With a special paint scheme officially sanctioned by Railbox parent company TTX, this boxcar was painted bright pink in support of Breast Cancer Awareness.

This 70’ heavyweight baggage car is green with yellow band and yellow lettering and runs on 6-wheel passenger car trucks. This car was built in 1921 and used on trains on the Chicago & North Western Railroad system in the 1940s-1950s. Today, C&NW is now part of Union Pacific, exclusively a freight railroad with over 32,000 miles of track, but prior to 1971, C&NW operated numerous passenger trains and services.

This 39’ single dome tank car is black with white lettering and runs on Bettendorf trucks. Built in the mid-1950s for the Thomas E. Snyder Sons Company, a molasses shipper founded in 1941 and based in Chicago, Ill. This car was used through the early 1960s to carry liquified sugar products across the country from refineries to various distributors.

This 3-bay covered hopper with elongated hatches is grey with black lettering and runs on Barber Roller Bear-ing trucks. Built by ACF in 1967 for the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad, this three-bay 4,700 cubic-foot covered hopper was merged into the Chessie fleet in 1979, and eventually received a paintout and restenciling for CSX Railroad.

Santa FeRoad Number SFRD 13378

This 40’ double-sheathed wood reefer, with vertical brake wheel is black with yellow sides and runs on An-drews trucks. Built in the early-1920s and rebuilt in 1936, this reefer was used exclusively for meat transport between slaughterhouses and distributors. This RR-W class car belonged to a series of over 2,000 similar cars, and could be seen in trains all across the country. Founded in 1859, Santa Fe was one of the largest railroads in North America up until 1996, when it merged with Burlington Northern to form BNSF.

Micro-Trains will donate 10% of the proceeds from this car to the breast cancer fund of the American Cancer Society.

These 50’ standard box cars with 8’ double sliding doors, no roofwalk and short ladders is brown with white letteirng and runs on Roller Bearing trucks. Built in the mid-1960s by American Car & Foundry, this 4921 cubic-foot capacity box car belonged to Denver & Rio Grande Western car class A320. In 1977, the car was shopped and had its roofwalk removed and was repainted into the orange and black scheme, and demoted to a general service car, serving through the 1980s.

This heavyweight depressed-center flat car is brown with white lettering and runs on Commonwealth trucks. This car was owned by Southern Pacific and used to transport bulky and heavy industrial loads, such as large dimensional loads, electrical transformers, and construction equipment, with the depressed center allowing for a few feet of additional vertical clearance.

Western Pacific was a Class 1 Railroad formed in 1903 in order to offer another rail option to the established Utah routes of the Southern Pacific. WP was acquired in 1982 by Union Pacific Railroad.
