It’s a waiting room. It’s a table. It’s a chair. It’s a plant. It’s standard. È una sala d’attesa. È un tavolo. È una sedia. È una pianta. È standard.

It’s sharp. It’s viscous. It’s static. It’s changing. It’s scented. È spigoloso. È viscoso. È statico. È mutevole.

It’s lonely. It’s time. It’s an experience. It’s a moment. It’s nowhere. È solo. È tempo. È un’esperienza. È un momento. È in nessun luogo.

"Sweet waiting time" arises from a reflection on the waiting areas and on the passage of time.

We've built a waiting room in which you can stop and experience a real moment of suspension,

without any purpose and necessity.

The choice of objects in the installation concerns a specific work of synthesis of the characteristic

features of these places, taken from a realistic context and used as symbols of real objects, "the

chair", "the table", "the plant", "the prints”.

Their new location will not impoverish their meaning but emphasizes their evocative power.

The visitor is invited to join in the installation, to sit and wait. It 'a waiting for waiting, an

existential waiting, a Beckett’s one, a moment not included in the parenthesis of a before and an

after.

As a metaphor of the temporal element, we have chosen an organic material, ice cream, which,

with its progressive decay, is a synthesis of the passage of time.

After the space and time, we also added a sound element.

The background music, "Toccata" from "Le sonate di gravicembalo" by Pietro Domenico Paradisi, is

one of the songs that accompanied the moments of interlude between a broadcast television and

the other, called "range".

Again we tried to play on a double level: on the one hand, "range" as a time of waiting, the other as

an ironic nuance of this timeless time.

Il progetto “Sweet waiting time” nasce da una riflessione sui luoghi d’attesa e sul trascorrere del

tempo.

Abbiamo costruito una sala d’attesa all’interno della quale è possibile fermarsi e sperimentare un

reale momento di sospensione, fuori da ogni finalità e necessità.

La scelta degli oggetti presenti nell’installazione riguarda un preciso lavoro di sintesi degli elementi

caratteristici di questi luoghi, estrapolati da un contesto realistico e assunti come emblemi degli

oggetti reali: “la sedia”, “il tavolino”, “la pianta”, “le stampe”.

La loro nuova collocazione non li impoverisce di significati ma ne sottolinea il potere evocativo.

Il visitatore viene invitato a entrare dentro l’installazione, a sedersi e attendere.

E’ un attendere per attendere, un’attesa esistenziale, beckettiana, un momento in sé, non inserito

nelle parentesi di un prima e di un dopo.

Come metafora dell’elemento temporale abbiamo scelto un materiale organico, il gelato che, con il

suo progressivo disfacimento, è sintesi del trascorrere del tempo.

Dopo lo spazio e il tempo, abbiamo inserito anche un elemento sonoro. La musica di sottofondo,

“Toccata” da “Le sonate di gravicembalo” di Pietro Domenico Paradisi, è uno dei brani che

accompagnavano i momenti di intermezzo televisivo tra una trasmissione e l’altra, “l’intervallo”.

Anche in questo caso abbiamo cercato di giocare su un doppio piano: da un lato “l’intervallo” come

tempo di attesa, dall’altro come sfumatura ironica di questo tempo senza tempo.

Installation requires a space where to place chair, table, plant, three prints. Ice cream will melt and drip on the floor.

Technical schedule/Scheda tecnica

L’installazione necessita di uno spazio in cui collocare sedia, tavolo, pianta, tre stampe. Il gelato si scioglierà e colerà sul pavimento.
