Gospel Choir The Gospel Choir is a welcoming group of singers. Its intension is to reach out to the community through Gospel music, social inclusion, learning together and bringing the message of the Christian gospel to life. Padma has an international career as a choreographer facilitator, teacher and dance activist who moved from India to Australia to lead Australia’s first contemporary multicultural dance company. SWell Conference 12-14 October Join us for our annual showcase of SWell programs and practitioners. Enjoy our conference dinner and mandala exhibition opening night, a day of inspiring speakers and interactive workshops followed by a Sunday morning ritual for healing and connection. Our keynote speaker Dr Rod Pattenden is an artist, art historian, and educational facilitator and interested in the connection between spirituality and the arts. He has written and lectured widely on these aspects of the arts and creativity in Australia and overseas. He was for many years the Chair of the Blake Prize for Religious Art, one of Australia’s premier art prizes, and was one of the founders of InterPlay Australia, a provider of embodied skills in innovation and improvisation.

As an artist Rod has been involved in a wide variety of community projects including management roles, artists in residence and creative facilitation of events. He has initiated many community arts projects that have enhanced community building and healthy cultural diversity in Sydney, and more recently in Newcastle.

Rod has written widely on the arts and culture, contributing to key publications on the work of a number of leading Australian artists. He has curated a number of important exhibitions on Australian artists, developed several innovative art installation projects, and is currently

working on a major exhibition of war artist George Gittoes and his work in Afghanistan for the Newcastle Regional Gallery. Rod has a BA Visual Arts (arts practice), M Phil (art history), M Theol. (hons), PHD and a Dip Ed.
