Brand History

The Military enjoys a special status in Swit-zerland and is deeply rooted in the country as an essential and well-respected institu-tion. Switzerland is one of the oldest demo-cracies in the world. 1961 Hans Noll arrives in Biel, Switzerland, to take over the European sales management for amid-sized watch factory.

1963 With a distinct entrepreneurial spirit Hans Noll fulfils his dream and launches his own watch company in Biel-Bienne, Switzerland, with his wife Elisabeth, naming it Hanowa – composed of HAns NOll WAtches.

1966 The brand establishes a reputation for excep-tional watch making, including ring watches,pendant watches, clip watches and more.

1970HANOWA quickly gained a reputation for combining outstanding Swiss quality and pre-cision with distinctive designs.

1990Hans Noll launches SWISS MILITARY HA-NOWA, a brand based on the original quint-essence of Hanowa combining Swiss-made quality with sporty design. The Swiss Made Quality

SWISS MILITARY HANOWA watches incor-porate today’s latest lifestyle and techni-cal trends, taking timekeeping well beyond the limits of the moment and reflecting the SWISS MILITARY HANOWA philosophy, “ALWAYS ON TARGET”.

THE CASE The steel cases and metal bracelets are made of 316 L high-grade steel. SWISS MILI-TARY HANOWA uses the leading IP (ion pla-ting) technology to coat the watch surface in yellow or rose gold, or in black or gun.

THE MOVEMENT SWISS MILITARY HANOWA uses only Swiss made quartz or mechanical movements from leading manufacturers in Switzerland. All me-chanical watches are equipped with a trans-parent glass case back, which displays the heart of the watch: the movement.

WATER RESISTANCEThe majority of our watches, with the excep-tion of our extra flat models, are fitted with a screw back, assuring perfect water resi-stance down to 10 ATM.

SAPPHIRE CRYSTALThe majority of our watches feature scratch resistant sapphire crystals. Sapphire is one of the hardest substances, registering 9 on the Mohs scale of rating the relative scratch resistance of materials (diamond measures 10).

THE DIAL, THE HANDSLuminescent hands and/or hour markers on the dial are a standard feature on our wat-ches. SWISS MILITARY HANOWA uses safe “Superluminova” material, allowing for per-fect readability and timekeeping even at night.

THE BRACELETEach metal bracelet is fitted with security clasp that is easy to adjust to the desired length. All bracelets are made of stainless steel, ceramic or titanium.

THE LEATHER STRAPSWISS MILITARY HANOWA leather straps are made of refined, high quality leather, ca-refully crafted and specially treated for water resistance.

Watch CareWatch Care

SWISS MILITARY HANOWA watches are craf-ted to provide excellent performance and unwa-vering accuracy. We offer the following advice to keep our timepieces functioning optimally:

Direct contact with any chemical products, as well as extreme shocks and extreme tempera-tures should be avoided.Pushbuttons and crown should never be turned or operated under water. Doing so may allow water to enter the watch mechanisms.

All materials used for the production of the SWISS MILITARY HANOWA watches are very durable. They can be cleaned and rinsed if desired with a mild soap and water, and a soft cloth for drying.After immersion in salt water, rinse the watch in warm freshwater.

Each SWISS MILITARY HANOWA watch has been tested using the most technologically up to date equipment on water resistance. The wa-ter resistant property is ensured by different gaskets within the timepiece. These gaskets are liable to a natural aging process and have to be renewed after a certain length of time. Shocks and disruptions to the crown can also affect the water resistance. As a result, the airtight qua-lity of the timepiece cannot be guaranteed for the lifetime of the watch. A regular check on the timepiece will help to maintain the gaskets and the water resistance.When a battery change is required, make cer-tain the gaskets are inspected properly to en-sure the integrity of the timepiece to guarantee water resistance.

Contact with water and dampness, prolonged exposure to sunlight and contact with grassy substances should be avoided to prevent dis-coloration and deformation of the leather strap.

Presentation rules

To present the SWISS MILITARY HANOWA collection in an attractive way and to influence the end consumer’s purchasing decision posi-tively, please respect the following rules:

• Group the watches according to product families:

Ladies Automatic Sport

• Place the price tags facing outward

• Place the Information Plates to the watches with the relative features. For example:AUTOMATIC - SWISS MADE (EN Ref. 99.160 & CHN Ref. 99.161)SAPPHIRE CRYSTAL - SWISS MADE (EN Ref. 99.159 & CHN Ref. 99.166)

• Every Point of Sales must carry an Official Agent Plate (Ref. 99.112) to show that it is an authorized SWISS MILITARY HANOWA retailer

• Display small watches in front of larger wat-ches • Do not mix SWISS MILITARY HANOWA wat-ches with other brands

• Always use the most current, original, visual background

Maintenance of POS Material

• Always use gloves and a polishing cloth while displaying the watches in order to avoid finger-prints on the watches and the display surface

• A regular cleaning prevents that dust is sett-ling on the display and watches
