The Armor of GOD
SWORD Weapon With a Long-metal Blade For Cutting or Thrusting Coercive Power Symbol of Honor or Authority Use of Force Use Duelling in Gentleman to Settle Point of Honor
Matthew 8:5-6
5 When Jesus returned to Capernaum, a Roman officer came and pleaded with him, 6 “Lord, my
young servant lies in bed, paralyzed and in terrible pain.”
Matthew 5:7God blesses those who are
merciful, for they will be shown mercy.
Matthew 5:8God blesses those whose
hearts are pure, for they will see God.
Matthew 5:9God blesses those who work
for peace, for they will be called the children of God.
Matthew 8:10-13
10 When Jesus heard this, he was amazed. Turning to those who were following him, he said, “I tell you the truth, I haven’t seen faith like this in all
Israel! 11 And I tell you this, that many Gentiles will come from all over the world—from east and west—and sit down with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at
the feast in the Kingdom of Heaven.
Matthew 8:12-13
12 But many Israelites—those for whom the Kingdom was prepared—will be thrown into outer
darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” 13 Then Jesus said to the Roman
officer, “Go back home. Because you believed, it has happened.” And the young servant was healed
that same hour.
I. GOD has given you the authority
a. Authority to carry out His plan. Jeremiah 1:11-12b. Go and prepare for action. Jeremiah 1:17
Jeremiah 1:5-9
Jeremiah 1:5-9
5 “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb. Before you were born I set you apart and
appointed you as my prophet to the nations.” 6 “O Sovereign LORD,” I said, “I can’t speak for you! I’m
too young!” 7 The LORD replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and
say whatever I tell you.
Jeremiah 1:8-9
8 And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I,
the LORD, have spoken!” 9 Then the LORD reached out and touched my mouth and said, “Look, I have put my
words in your mouth!
Jeremiah 1:11-12
11 Then the LORD said to me, “Look, Jeremiah! What do you see?” And I replied, “I see a branch from an almond tree.” 12 And
the LORD said, “That’s right, and it means that I am watching, and I will certainly carry
out all my plans.”
Jeremiah 1:17“Get up and prepare for action.
Go out and tell them everything I tell you to say. Do not be afraid of them, or I will make you look foolish in
front of them.
II. Wear the full metal armor
a. Always sharpen the sword. Ecclesiastes 11:10b. Be careful in using it. Joshua 1:7-8
Ephesians 6:10-17
Ephesians 6:10-17
10 A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be
able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. 12 For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the
unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.
Ephesians 6:13-14
13 Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle you
will still be standing firm. 14 Stand your ground, putting on the belt of truth and the
body armor of God’s righteousness.
Ephesians 6:15-17
15 For shoes, put on the peace that comes from the Good News so that you will be fully prepared. 16 In addition to all of these, hold
up the shield of faith to stop the fiery arrows of the devil. 17 Put on salvation as your
helmet, and take the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ecclesiastes 11:10
So refuse to worry, and keep your body healthy. But remember that
youth, with a whole life before you, is meaningless.
Joshua 1:7-87 Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do. 8 Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it
day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed
in all you do.
III. WORD BRINGS DELIVERANCE
Isaiah 61:1-3
Isaiah 61:1-31 The Spirit of the Sovereign LORD is upon
me, for the LORD has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to
comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners
will be freed.
Isaiah 61:2-3
2 He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the LORD’s favor has come, and with it, the
day of God’s anger against their enemies. 3 To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty
for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their
righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the LORD has planted for his own glory.
IV. IMPRINTED WORDS
Proverbs 4:1-4
Proverbs 4:1-4
1 My children, listen when your father corrects you. Pay attention and learn good judgment, 2 for I am giving you good guidance. Don’t turn away from my instructions. 3 For I, too, was once my
father’s son, tenderly loved as my mother’s only child. 4 My father taught me, “Take my words to heart. Follow my commands, and you will live.
