SWOT ANALYSIS AND CONCLUSION

SWOT ANALYSIS:

SWOT analysis is a tool for auditing an organization and its environment. It is the first stage

of planning and helps marketers to focus on key issues. SWOT stands for strengths.

Weakness, opportunities and threats, strengths and weakness are internal factors.

Opportunities and threats are external factors. An opportunity is a favorable condition in the

environment. It enables the enterprise to consolidate its position. Growing demand is an

example of an opportunity. A threat is an unfavorable condition in the environment.lt creates

risks e.g., threat of growing competition. Strength is an inherent capacity which an

organization can use to gain competitive strategic advantage over its competitors. Superior

research and development facilities, for example, enable a firm to develop new products and

thereby gain competitive advantage. A weakness is an inherent limitation or constraint which

creates a strategic disadvantage. For example, overdependence on a single product is

potentially risky. SWOT analysis helps an enterprise in matching its strengths and

weaknesses with opportunities and threats operating in the environment.

The data about the internal factors is taken from company's details, from officers andemployees. The external factors can be analyzed by looking into current trend in technology

and market.

STRENGTH :

An ISO 9000 company with state-of-the-art facilities for entire range of telecomequipment.

Approval and qualification facilities to match international standards. Comprehensive vendor evaluation facilities. Skilled and experienced workers. Some got direct training from Alcatel, France. Good infrastructure facilities with manufacturing facilities for Multilayer PCB (upto 8

layers), SMT(Surface mount Technology), SIM card manufacturing.

Strong in-house R&D.

WEAKNESS:

Even though ITI has got good infrastructure facilities, it is using older obsoletetechnology.

Lack of sufficient support from Government for adoption of new technology. Inability to meet the deadline of customers due to inefficient work by laborers. Usage of old machines facility for the manufacture of wireless equipments.

OPPORTUNITIES:

By improving the technology ITI can start manufacturing of GSM infrastructure,broadband infra equipment, NGN equipment based on IP technology and SDH products.

There is a huge market for wireless communications equipments.

Developing communication equipment for defense purpose. ITI can look for adopting future technologies like 3G, 4G- Wi-Max. Can provide wire line telephone infrastructure to corporate companies.

THREATS:

Low demand for the old wire line exchanges due to the arrival of wireless telephony. Due to the liberalization many foreign players started manufacturing facilities in India

with improved technology is a real threat.

The ITIs major collaborator itself is a major competitor in telecommunicationequipment manufacturing field.

Increase in raw materials costs, salary etc increase the cost of production.
