Sydney is Australia’s largest and most famous city. It’s home to beautiful beaches, iconic buildings, historic landmarks, award-winning restaurants and a vibrant culture. From the breath-taking views of Sydney Harbour to the serene tranquillity of Hyde Park, Sydney has something for everyone.

The International Convention Centre Sydney is a brand new centre due to open in December 2016 and forms part of a major upgrade of the Darling Harbour precinct.

I invite all College members and all medical professionals with an interest in dermatology to join us in making this 50th Annual Scientific Meeting a very memorable event!

PROF. ALEX ANSTEY Prof. Anstey is a dermatologist in Bangor, North Wales, UK. He is a Honorary Professor of Dermatology at Cardiff University, Advisory Professor of Dermatology to Jaio Tong University, Shanghai, China and is the editor of the British Journal of Dermatology (BJD).

Prof. Anstey has had the following leadership positions: Associate Medical Director for R & D (2000-2013); Honorary Treasurer, British Association of Dermatologists (2007-2010); Creator and route lead for Cardiff University BSc in Medical Education (2011-2015); Secretary General, 13th International Congress, Porphyrins and Porphyrias in Cardiff 2011; Secretary General, 15th World Congress on Cancers of the Skin in Edinburgh 2014. He was elected to the European Dermatology Forum in 2015 and was reappointed as editor of the BJD in 2015 for a second three year term.

Prof. Anstey’s academic career was built on foundations of clinical research studies as part of medical doctorate thesis research. He set up, organised funding and has supervised eight MDs (seven awarded; one on-going). More recently, Prof. Anstey became interested in operational research for innovative service delivery solutions in dermatology. In addition to research and scientific publications, he is also devoted to medical education, and teaching. Prof. Anstey is married and has two children. His main disappointment is supporting a perennially unsuccessful soccer team.

Dr Ashfaq MarghooB Dr Ashfaq A. Marghoob is a board-certified dermatologist specialising in the diagnosis and treatment of cancers of the skin. He is Director of Memorial Sloan Kettering’s Regional Skin Cancer Clinic in Hauppauge, Long Island. Dr Marghoob continuously explores the importance and significance of the clinical and dermoscopic morphology of lesions. He has published numerous papers on topics related to skin cancer with an emphasis on melanoma, atypical/dysplastic naevi, and congenital melanocytic naevi. Dr Marghoob’s research interests are focused on the use of imaging instruments such as photography, dermoscopy, and confocal laser microscopy to recognise skin cancer early in its development. He hopes that educating physicians and the public about the importance of early skin cancer detection will help save lives.

The family moved to Lubbock, Texas from 1994 to 2002, where Prof. Rapini became the Chair of Dermatology at Texas Tech University. In 2002, he was recruited back to UTHealth to head an integrated department at the medical school and MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Prof. Rapini, currently the Distinguished Chernosky Professor and Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).
