FIRST QUARTER

Grade Level Standard

After Grade 8, the learner will learn more about Jesus as their personal savior that calls us to enter into direct

relation with God, to know Him personally, to believe and live out His teachings with the help of the Church, Christ’s own community in the world today, and how our Christian faith grows, brave enough to enter with generosity and open hearts

into Christ’s personal call to an ever deepening and mature faith-response not in a vacuum but in a concrete environment

of real people who witness to the love and abiding presence of the Risen Lord.

Content Standard

The learner gains a deeper understanding on the Last Supper event, washing of the feet of Jesus’ apostles, the

institution of the Holy Eucharist, and the Gospels as the principal witness to the life and teachings of Jesus.

Performance Standard

The learner assumes responsibility for opening one’s heart and mind to the Jesus presented in the Gospels to live out one’s personal relationship with Him, and celebrate one’s personal relationship with Jesus by being open to the living Word of God in the Gospels by (a) listening attentively to its proclamation at Mass and (b) by reading the Gospels for

personal reflection and prayer.

The learner recognizes the New Testament Books as the inspired living Word of God and see more clearly Jesus’ portrait as developed in each Gospel and other writings of the New Testament and realize that the study of Jesus’ Jewish background will help them understand Jesus and the Gospel better.

Performance Standard

The learner will live out how the human Jesus is the universal norm for being human, and celebrate our

discipleship as members of the community by prayerful reflection on the living Word of God in the Gospels and by

listening attentively to the Scriptural readings at Mass through giving special respect and reverence to the Gospels-the

source of our Christian attitudes and values.

The learner gives examples on how they can unite their own sufferings with the passion of Jesus and appreciate

Jesus’ great love for us that will enable them to live out the message of Christ’s teachings.

Christians.
